newbie plugin install quesstions

Hello. I can't seem to get any plugins to show up in the config plugin list. I have placed the dlls or other files either in the "plugins" dir or the main GBDVR folder. I have placed any included skins in the skin folder and tried to place them in the main folder also. They don't make it onto the list of checkmarked plugins or onto the main screen of GB-DVR. Specifically the weather and DVD-ripper plugins.

What am I not doing or doing wrong? Do I need to edit the config.xml file? Some other file?

Any help is appreciated. Otherwise, all the basic install stuff works great so far. And so much easier than Myth! Thanks.

the dlls should go in the plugin folder, and the skin files should go in a subfolder of the skin you are using, although when you're finding your feet, its usually best to try and get a plugin working using the blue skin first as all plugins should have at least the files for that skin.

so for weather,
"weatherplugin.dll" should be in gbpvr\plugins
"skin.xml" + "weather codes skin.xml" should be in GBPVR\skin\blue\weather
you will also need the latest version of "commonGBPVRUtilities.dll" in the main GBPVR folder. the version i have is numbered 3.0.2265.15278

if all them are in place, check "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\GBPVR.exe.log" and see if there are any errors in there which might give you some pointers as to why its failing.

Hello. Thanks for the information. Where do I find "commonGBPVRUtilities.dll" ? I did a search for it and it wasn't on my c:\ drive at all. Is it included with the distribution file for GB-DVR? Thanks again for any info.

no its not installed by default, and im not sure if the version on the wiki will work with the current weather plugin, the one im using you can download from Jeffs post number 26 on this thread

I think the weather install on the wiki is up to date. The newest commongbpvutilities.dll is actually posted here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post108308, along with an example panel that only displays current weather information.
