CSY:

I am NTSC here in the USA.

As far as the quartz.dll the 2479 (wrong I meant 2749) version doesn't seem to fix whatever this is doing as that was the one I was using. The older 902 version sure made a noticable difference for my problem. Of course who knows what others issues it may uncover. I think I may still try the ati 9600 pro I have as it is a built by ati card so hopefully it won't have the problems you have with the asus ati card.

I may try the quality setting just to see what the difference is. I had enabled the extra settings tabs but only tried a few things.

Well I have to say that the 902 version of quartz.dll does wonders for vmr9 rendering and the purevideo decoder on nvidia cards, at least on my fx5200. I watched several shows tonight, movies and tv, as well as live tv and things are looking great. Also I checked and the purevideo decoder is using VMR pixel adaptive for deinterlace so the 902 quartz must have done something for that as well as bob. I was using 2749 (swapped digits in the post above) and it was very bad with DXVA on in all the decoders I tried. I may try a later version but I think MS screwed up on this one in later versions and either reintroduced the problem or created a new one (no great surprise there).

I am totally happy now with playback. The purevideo decoder is much clearer and sharper, easily as clear as live tv, it almost looks better. Now that I can use DXVA the cpu load is down nicely too. I will post if I find a later version of quartz.dll that works as well as this one but I may not get to it too soon. I may just enjoy the great picture for a while.

CSY: You might want to try this old quartz.dll just for fun. It is an easy thing to test and it worked wonders for me, regardless of what MS claimed it fixed. Let me know if you need a copy, just email me at my username at cox dot net.

I'm pleased to hear that your system is now working fine.

I must have a different problem to you because all 3 versions of quartz.dll make no difference to me. I suspect my problem is PAL related as per postings on different forums. I will keep chipping away at the problem.

Well I have totally given-up on my Nvidia 6600GT video card. I have swapped back to my old ASUS (ATI) 9550SE, and motion is perfectly smooth and the hardware deinterlacing is more sharper and clearer (using the PureVideo decoder). The ASUS card does have its flaws, like having to manually enable TV-out every time you reboot and does not support PAL-component-out, but I'm prepared to put-up with those flaws in order to get smooth motion and sharp picture.

I suspect my problems with the Nvidia 6600GT is related to problems displaying PAL-interlaced MPEG2 (ie recorded broadcast PAL TV).

Hi Sub,

I'm still working on my Nvidia 6600GT jumpy video problem (now on a different PC than my HTPC).

Is there a way for me to experiment with different video renderer configurations?

In particular, how do I configure GBPVR to use VMR9 renderer with a single input (disable the other 3 inputs, which I realise will probably disable OSD)?

Also how do I totally disable VMR scaling (as oposed to scaling with zero)?

Thanks

have you tried ati tray tool

http://www.guru3d.com/article/atitraytools/189/

It has several low level options for tweaking tv out and video settings. I found that the video settings helped a lot with stuttering on my 9600pro. I haven't tried the tv setting though as the output on my card works fine.

just a thought.

Thanks gEd for the tip. I tried ATITrayTools but unfortunately was not able to resolve the lack of TV-out when PC rebooted. I also tried setting up a profile to enable TV-out when Windows loaded but that didn't work either.

It wasn't my intention to hijack this Nvidia thread with ATI discussion.

Thanks Stig for the thought, but I have tried the Omega ATI driver but it didn't solve my 9550 TV-out issue.
