I have a small, retail, promotional product and award shop but we have 6 computers (3 are computer engravers) and I'm as close to IT in my small office as you can get. Don't know much of what I'm doing and rarely have to call a real full-blooded geek to help. Mostly for serious server problems.

I'm in the US Navy. I have a strong background in IT (sysadmin/network development). I am still pretty new to the forums of gbpvr, but I am in love with the program. I hope to eventually be able to program plugins for it. However, I lack the time currently, along with the fact that everything I could need is already programed!

Thanks Sub and all the other programmers out there for all your hard work. Outstanding product!

Actually, I prefer 'Software Engineer' Big Grin

I currently do Java and Oracle SQL with a little networking thrown in.

I've been at it for 32 years...started out writing COBOL financial systems (on punch cards, yet). Done a little of everything...sysadmin, network admin (SNA), various assembly languages, C, C++, a (very) little C#, and several languages most of you have probably never heard of. Worked on everything from 8 bit microprocessors to minicomputers to big IBM mainframes and even a Cray for a while...MVS, VM, RSX-11, Unix, and other OS's, not to mention DOS & Windoze.

No way I'd ever have the patience to write something like GB-PVR, esp. if I wasn't being paid for it... Smile I'm continually amazed at GB-PVR and the fact that it's a one-man project. My hat's off to Sub...

I had to put 'Other' as, at the moment, I'm on sabbatical (as they say in academia). That's unemployed in real terms Big Grin (and loving it, I hasten to add).

Other than Web Design, I've done the rest. I gave up being a student when I was 17 - I was only interested in computers and they didn't teach that subject at my school so I figured I could learn more in the workplace. My school got its first computer about 6 months after I'd built my first.

I used to teach DOS and Windows v3.1 at the Uni where I worked. I'm mostly a programmer/developer although I've spent the last 10 years or so in a net sysadmin role - mind numbingly boring and desperate to get back in to development.

Oh, I nearly forgot - 'Retail' - I did 18 months part time after work as a barman. That's pretty cool - work in your local, chat to your friends, have a few beers and get paid for it. Smile

Cheers,
Brian

How about IT support AND student? Got a month left at IBM then it's back to being a "lazy student", can't wait Big Grin

I'm a parttime electrician (2-3 days a week), for 15 years now. I do the housekeeping. My wife (girlfriend actually, we never married) works fulltime almost. The HAF is very greatBig Grin
The nearest I get to IT professionally, is when we install utp-cables for a network. Before being an electrician I was in building and construction, did about everything you can do to a house, exept plasteringWink . Before that I worked in a bar for 10 years. During all that found a nice girlfriend, got two kids. One of the kids already left home the other one probably will next year. So you can imagine I'm suffering a bit of the "empty-nest-syndrome"
