I am experiencing the same problem, image is displayed at the top of the screen with large black horizontal bar along the bottom. I am running the .4 version against DVD ISO's stored on a hard drive. I running on a seperate computer, not the computer with GBPVR installed on it.

I am also experiencing sync issues with the sound. If anyone has any suggestions why the sound is slightly out of sync and what I can do to fis it I would appreciate it mucho!

This is a great little utility that I will get a lot use out of once it's all working. Thanks for effort on this Ton!

Hello all,

It looks like I've left some little bug in the size algorithms..... I'll have a (serious look & test) over the weekend and I do expect I'll be able to get it all working....

Expect an update (for the size/resizing issues) in a few days. I'll take the time to test properly this time....

For the sound-sync issues, have a look at the mencoder command-line you're using (I'm using a pretty "heavy" command-line as default in MVPRecoder, but I have the horsepower to run it like that). Try a little "lighter" command-line and see if this will improve the issues. Have a look at the some of the other "using mencoder" threads or at stattik's little tool to "steal" some command-lines.....

Okay,

I have finally fixed (and tested) the annoying resize-bug!!! Looks like it still had something to do with the new US-style formatting (didn't check the code hard enough). This version now works like the 0.1 and 0.2 versions (and resizes correctly!).

I have also added a new command-line switch (-sid) to allow for manual specification of the subtitle-stream.

If this version proves to be stable, I'll move it to the Wiki and start a new MVPRecoder support-thread in "plugin and skin support", and I'll see if I can close this thread...

Best of luck with this version,

I had high hopes for version 5. Again, the mpg created from the avi plays right on Media Player Classic, but with the MVP it only shows on the upper half of the screen and stutters. Any suggestions?

Hi Jared,

Could you post two things:

1. Your version of the MVPRecoder.xml file
2. The output of the tool (i.e. running MVPRecoder xxxxxxx -o yyyy > output.log)

I'll then have a look and see if I can find what's going on.....

The only change I've been intentionally making each time the xml file gets replaced by a new version is to correct the path to my version of mencoder and mplayer.

The processing gives an error at the end, but like I said, the resulting file displays correctly in Media Player Classic making me think maybe something is setup wrong somewhere else.

.. I just noticed that this process command line created an output.log and a divx2pass.log. Is that expected? Do you also want to look at the divx2pass.log?

Hi Jared,

Strange.... When I look at the output.log file I see that it detects the aspect-ratio correctly and tries to fix it: (it sets the movie-size to: 352:199 and the screen-size to: 352:288 which should result in black borders on top and bottom, which should be fine for a standard 4:3 TV-set).

Also, the xml-file looks just fine!!!

I can think of only three things:

- You're MVP is setup for NTSC and you're now trying to play PAL
- Something with your MVP (like: set to WideScreen) or
- Something with the AVI.

If this is not a PAL issue (in that case you should repalce the FPS value in the MVPRecoder.xml file), I suggest the following:

To eliminate both, could you post a snippet (60 secs or so) of the AVI? This way I can have a look on my own MVP and see what's going on....

I guess you already tried resetting your MVP and checking that other files with "352:288" resolution and 25 FPS play correctly.

Let me know if this has triggered something or if it's possible to post a snippet...

Ton,

I won't be able to get to this machine today, but had some clarification I can add here.
Quote:I can think of only three things:

- You're MVP is setup for NTSC and you're now trying to play PAL
- Something with your MVP (like: set to WideScreen) or
- Something with the AVI.

1. I am in North America, so are you saying that the xml file is setup for PAL and I need to change it? I guess I don't understand what you mean when you state that I'm 'now trying to play PAL'. How do I know?
2. How would I set the MVP to WideScreen? I have 3 sitting on the network and have never had any of them load the original Hauppauge software, so there may be settings that I could optimize, again I don't know. They all exibit the same behavior on these avi file conversions.
3. There may be something unique about the AVI files. I've tried three but they may all have the same unique characteristics.

I'm not at the machine today, but I would need some help with the following in the future:

Quote:To eliminate both, could you post a snippet (60 secs or so) of the AVI? This way I can have a look on my own MVP and see what's going on....
How do I get a 'snippet' of an AVI easily?

Quote:I guess you already tried resetting your MVP and checking that other files with "352:288" resolution and 25 FPS play correctly.
I have reset the MVP, but I don't know how to tell a mpg file's resolution and framerate.

Thank You for your help in this area. I'm hoping at this point it's as simple as changing something in the xml to reflect NTSC.

Hi Jared....

Yes, it is... From what you're telling me, I'm 95% sure that it's all because of the NTSC / PAL settings (next release I'll update the Readme.txt file to make that more clear).

If you look in the XML-File, you'll see the following lines:
Quote: <!-- The Width and Height you want to have the MVP video end up -->
<MVP_Width>352</MVP_Width>
<MVP_Height>288</MVP_Height>
<!-- The FPS for the MVP (25 or 24 for PAL, 24000/1001 or 30000/1001 for NTSC) -->
<MVP_FPS>25</MVP_FPS>

They should look like this for NTSC:
Quote: <!-- The Width and Height you want to have the MVP video end up -->
<MVP_Width>352</MVP_Width>
<MVP_Height>240</MVP_Height>
<!-- The FPS for the MVP (25 or 24 for PAL, 24000/1001 or 30000/1001 for NTSC) -->
<MVP_FPS>30000/1001</MVP_FPS>

That should clear up the MVP display nicely.

Hope this helps,
