Any chance of supporting Zap2It (xmltv.xml) files with ZapTools?

ZapTools is only for Zap2it EPG......ZapTools simply provides the info from the listings that is not already in GBPVR.

Instructions are on the wiki.

As a note....I will be releasing a new version very soon that will support moving the datastor for Zaptools to SQLite rather than Access.....it will also be complied in .Net 2.0 like the new GBPVR.

I guess what I was wondering is. You added support for the GBPVR zap2it save, would it be possible to add support for zap2it xmltv files also?
I like sharing a single download between all my systems, but at the same time I would love to play around with the tools. Smile
What information is a zap2it xmltv file missing that you need?
TIA

Hi,

After upgrade to 97.07 I don't have pictures, background, only pure text. No matter if browsing from localhost or remote PC. Any idea?
Tried to install upgrade on 96.12 with EWA and pure 96.12. Result is always the same.

I had the same problem, I think in the config screen of ewa it picks the blank theme as default so if you make any other changes and save these it will choose blank as the theme. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.:o

Uffff... how simple is the solution.... thanks, it works!

Maybe someone have an idea why WebAdmin (no matter enhanced or not) doesn't work correctly when I try to log-in from the corporate network (of course behind nat and firewall). Works hmmm.. partly. I can see first screen with login fields, next screen appears after long time and it is "can not find a server..". When I use the same computer inside local home network or outside local network all works perfectly. Corporate firewall rules?

Probably.
You could try another port, preferably one that is open in you company's firewall. I guess you could try port 80 or 25.

Jim

ZapTools originally provided TV Ratings, Repeat Info, Genre, Cast/Crew Info, Start Rating and Original Air Date.

The zapdb.mdb file holds all the data that is available in the Zap2it xml download.

GBPVR only holds a portion of the data that the Zap2it download has to offer...most of it but not all of it.

In recent months sub added genre and tvv rating to the native GBPVR so I stoped pulling that info from the zapdb.mdb file and started pulling it from the native GBPVR database. It just makes sense to do that.

The zapdb.mdb file itself...still holds all the data that zap2it has to offer....you can find all the info on what zap2it has to offer on their site at this link.

ZapTools was updated to pull in the xml that gbpvr was using that it had already downloaded from zap2it in order to reduce bandwidth usage at zap2it labs.

When you do this it reads in the output file the GBPVR creates and produces a file that is formated the way zaptools was used to getting the info in when the zaptools downloads directly from zap2it. This file is stored in the GBPVR directory and is named zapdata.xml.

If you do not reuse the file that GBPVR creates (this is an option in the config file) then you will not get a copy of the xml that was downloaded....zaptools just connects to the service....brings in the info....and loads it.

So long story short (I believe this is what you were asking for).....set the config to reuse the GBPVR zap2it download and you will get another copy of the xml in the GBPVR directory.

The file that GBPVR puts out contains all the data but the format, although it is xml, for some reason did not agree with what zaptools was used to working with....so I just read in the gbpvr file and export it as a XML document and then read that file in and it works fine.

If this doesn't answer your question PM me and we can talk off-line. Smile

Hiya,

I am a major fan of EWA, but I was wondering if there were any plans to implement the request on the wishlist (mine, so not a new one) regarding adding the facility to display a message on the GBPVR front-end for upcoming shows, i.e. ones that might appear in the TV Guide in future, but which are not yet scheduled, simply because they are not currently in the Guide.

My thoughts on implementation would include :

(A) You search for a show, and there are no hits, but it asks "Do you want to add this to the reminder messages when the TVGuide includes this show" and maybe even, "Do you want to automatically add this show to your scheduled recordings when it appears in the TVGuide?" (along with scheduling options).

(B) You simply add the show name to a list of shows which are added automatically to your scheduled recordings when it appears in the TVGuide. (along with scheduling options).

I do understand this kind of function is available through a plugin, but I'd like to keep plugins to a minimum, and I do 95% of my scheduling from the WebAdmin (from Work), and 100% watching via the MVP, so I don't really try and schedule shows through GBPVR on the PC (where a keyboard search can easily be used) rather than the MVP screen, which is not that conducive to keyed input.

With two young kiddlies (1.5 and 2.5), I don't have a lot of time to watch out/search for shows, and would like not miss any. This function, via the EWA would really make my PVR complete. Thanks!

I installed this last night (packaged with GBPVR 97.7). I noticed the Web Admin doesn't ask for a login any longer, unless you go to the config tab. Is that normal for this new release? Previous releases asked for a login the first time I would access the interface.

UncleJohnsBand Wrote:The 97.07 release of GBPVR is out. It contains the latest build of the EWA. Build #36.

This release runs ASP.Net 2.0 so you will need the .Net Framework 2.0 installed. There is a link in the download of the new GBPVR release.

Changes Include:

Build 36: 2006-05-14
  • Modified Subtitle display in guide to be more easily discernable from the show Title.
  • Added ability to see the show/movie original air date/release date - Available only to ZapTools users.
  • Added ability to see Star Rating (if availbale) for movies - Available only to ZapTools users.
  • Added color coding to Guide and Search displays for Recorded, In-Progress, Conflict, Failed and Pending status.
  • Added Post-Record check in Details page to determine if recording actually got scheduled and display message if scheduled recording is not found.
  • Added Post-Record check in Search Results page to determine if recording(s) actually got scheduled and display list of failed recordings if any occurred.

For some reason the config file isn't being read the same way in this new version. I'll have to have a look at this for my recording plugins, and I'll feedback what I find to UJB. Basically it's loading the defaults.

If you could provide pre-upgrade and post-upgrade (after you re-saved your settings) config files, so that we can compare the differences that would be great.
