v0.97.7 testing is complete.
Worked fine on my system testing both the standard Access and new SQL database options. It’s always a good idea to backup your original database before changing anything, but this utility just manages the EPG file that GBPVR imports. I don’t expect any big issues.

v06.5.17b beta released, posted in the Community Announcements forum.
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16209

It includes the incremental download functionality we tested here, and adds lots of EPG customization options.
Thanks again for your help sub & cginzel.
I'll leave this thread open for the original version.

Jim....just saw thais thread.....You may find some or a lot of this functionality is in ZapTools....perhaps not the incremental process but the extended data is there (star rating, original release date, reapeat, etc) and the Web Admin in GBPVR is designed to use the zaptools DB to supplement data in the Web Admin from the zaptools db for those that have zapti2 EPG and are interested in seeing the extended data.

The source is on the wiki as well.

One thing you may want to use, as a service to zap2it, is the compression during downloads. This was implemented into zaptools a while back.

I have a release about ready that will move zaptools to use either Access or SQLite as the database....it will also be .Net 2.0.

I haven't tried the ZapTools, but i have to say i enjoy the original feature of Jim's tool which was to retrieve an extended schedule past the 3-4 days zap2it was supplying before and now that sub imports the unique id, the GBPVR built in duplicates check seems to be is working too... so life is grand! Yes I read about your ZapTools earlier and it looks great, I also love your Adv Web Admin as you can see by the list of installed features in my sig. Smile
I even asked if you would consider importing the unique-ID from a xmltv generated zap2it file in a different thread (before 97.7 was released) Modifying the GBPVR mdb is well beyond my ability, but it’s a moot issue with sub’s new release anyway.
xmltv handles the zap2it downloads, my utility just modifies the files xmltv gives. Two files are downloaded, “today + tomorrow”, and the “last day”, any compression would be handled on the xmltv side.

To be honest I’ve completely moved away from using zap2it in the GBPVR config utility for several reasons.
I have several computers, tuners, and TV guides. I wanted to cover all of them and their individual little quirks by modifying a single xmltv download into several customized files. When I was using config’s zap2it option I had to select complete reload or I ended u with holes in the epg. For some reason I don’t have the overlapping and failed recording problem after switching to I-xmltv.

I guess the last thing is, I don’t like asking other people to do something if I can think of a way I can do it myself. And writing this little utility was a lot more fun than installing, testing, and uninstalling utilities from the wiki.
I hope I didn’t step on any toes, by creating something that already exists, because that wasn’t my intention.
In the end I have exactly what I wanted, and thought I’d share it for others.
An incremental xmltv download manager that will customize the GBPVR TV Guide the way I want it. While at the same time, grabbing a minimal 3-day download each evening from Zap2It and producing a single file that all my computers can share.

Thank you Charles,
Hey, have you tried the version I posted in the announcements forum?
You don’t need to change a thing (we’re in the same –6 timezone), just move the UpdateEPG.bat to your GBPVR folder and overwrite the old version of I-xmltv.exe in your I-xmltv folder.
I don’t think I have an ego these days, but I'll admit I had a smile on my face after seeing what that simple little Premiere! "*" can do... Smile

Remember though, you'll have to schedule Premiere's or you'll just be recording reruns!

okay Jim... you haven't lead me astray yet so I installed it... The batch file has turned into a monster huh?! Wink

So i'll see how it goes... I noticed the note near the top to copy it into the GBPVR working directory. Who would forget to do that! :p

You should see the code. Wink
Adding the switch directions and the file check/backup at the end didn’t help the situation any. I hope people just look at the top few “set=” lines, because it does look complicated when it really isn't

You are not alone, but I will admit nothing…Big Grin

If you end up not wanting the details just change "SET AddDetails=1" to "SET AddDetails=0"

Jim,

I awoke this morning to find my machine running 65 instances of your utility. All i did to test it out was what you suggested and that was to copy over the .exe and batch files (batch to the gbpvr program directory). So i've rolled back to the previous version i was using successfully before.

have you tested it with v0.97.7? Your sig shows v0.96.12...

I added a warning and bumped the C/A thread until I've had a chance to test everything for my self with 97.7.
I just tested it with 97.7 <see post below> and everything <I tested> worked fine, but the new database conversion still needs to be tested.
http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...stcount=20

sounds like your stuck in a loop, and this could be happening if GBPVR try’s to reload the EPG over and over because of a failed or corrupted xmltv file. OR RecTracker is still installed? See post below.
I'll get on this right away, but if you could zip your I-xmltv.log, I-xmltv2.log, GBPVR log's, and your UpdateEPG from the GBPVR folder and post them for me it would be a big help.
Sorry about the problem.

Jim

Charles,
GBPVR 97.7 upgrade from 96.12> No problem
Export and import recordings with extra details> No Problem.
Schedule Premiere recording >No problem
Record movie with title extras>No problem
Manual EPG empty / update using I-xmltv EPG> No problem
Automatic EPG update> Will report back, but expect >??? ????

RecTracker did give an error and was removed from postUpdateEPG.bat & PostProcessing.bat Do you still have RecTracker in your PostUpdateEPG.bat by any chance?? That would cause your recording service to restart after the epg update.

I'll report back when I've tested everything.
Now, this was using the default Access "mdb" database.
Were you using the converted database feature? If not I have a feeling that we are back to the memory problem you had earlier in the thread.
I would like to find out what the problem is though, because I would like you to be able to use the utility, and other people could have the same issue.

You've been great through all of this, would you humor me a bit longer if I post a stripped down version that you could test. I’d like to see if we could get the extra EPG features working for you.
Jim
