So... I've been a big fan of the Fat Blue - High Vis skin... but it looks like it isn't being "kept up" as well as some of the other skins. My current setup is 97.07, mostly via MediaMVP, with a relatively small screen (21"). I really like that Fat Blue allows me to navigate easily from across the room but I thought that there might be something a little more current. Suggestions?

Tipstir designs all his skins with the MVP in mind (he uses it). Give them a try.

Chameleon does have larger text for buttons, but most other text is average size or maybe one size larger. The default is mostly white on black hi-contrast. (I would wait a day for me to fix a bug in my skin Wink related to ThemePacks, otherwise give it a try.).

There is a Chameleon ThemePack for BaseSkin which give it larger buttons as well.

There is really no reason to change from HI-Vis unless the Photo Library skin being pulled in by GB-PVR from "Blue" looks awful.

That and the OSD is the only skinning changes I believe.

I'm not an MVP user, but I am curious.

With version 96.12 sub provided a Transparency setting for all menus. When set to 100%, this adjustment has a dramaric effect on the clarity of the text on the screen.

I personally expected the need for MVP skins to disappear.

Can anyone tell me the real impact of this setting on MVPs and the need for HiVis skins?

Thanks,
David

I use a variation on the blueMCE with a dark background and all the fonts increased but about 4-5 points!! I'm only on a little 14" tv from about 3 meters away.

Is your PC monitor bigger?

Sadly, I live just a few miles from the University of Notre Dame (Think US College football for those international folk). Elite parents send their kids to school there.
This weekend at the graduation "Garage sale" (which is items left behind by students) is a 54" projection TV. Really, those kids are so well off, "dumpster diving" is huge for the locals.

Yeah it is, a 17 CRT. But you try and find a 15", 17" or 19" TFT monitor with Svideo in!!! (not an LCD tv but a computer monitor with Svideo i.e no tuner). That's what I'd ideally like to have. I know Dell do a 20" widescreen with svideo) but that's the only one I've ever seen.

You must use an MVP then by this statement?
Why else would you need a s-video input on a monitor?
You wouldn't be able to use it with the PC normally right?
Wouldn't a 19" (50% improvement) tv with s-video serve you better for less money?

Can I ask you a question?
Am I asking too many questions?Smile

No I do run off a pc normally as well. That one is fine. In the bedroom I run an MVP to a 14" Tv, and yes it would be cheaper to buy a 19" CRT for the bedroom, but I'd rather get and LCD type.

No you can keep asking, after the 20th question I might start charging 2c per answer Smile
