I've been having recording problems. Files are 6kb. I'm using SQL. I've applied the DLL patch in this thread, still problems. It looks like the recorder is picking the digital capture port instead of the tuner. I get

Successfully auto detected tuner filter: AVerTVHD A180 BDA Digital Capture

in the log file. I'm guessing this may just be a config setting that I missed, but I couldn't find it.

Logs attached

This is actually different to the problems the other guys have been discussing in this thread. Their recordings dont even attempt to start. Yours is starting, but failing.

I cant see any obvious cause in the logs.

Today, 4 out of 4 programs recorded just fine with the patched dll. So far so good, I'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks, I'll report back if it still fails.

One thing, downloading the file with the latest IE6 on XP SP2 produced a corrupt .zip file every time - it worked OK with Netscape 7. I haven't seen this kind of problem for years, any idea what's causing it?

I'm not sure why this happens exactly. Something funny with the webhost used by the forums (trying to compress and already compressed file). If you disable the HTTP v1.1 extensions in your browser then it behaves correctly.

I am now having some failed recordings as well. I downloaded the patch but still have my problem. I only have 1 tuner. If the MVP is watching a live show, the scheduled recording fails. As sioon as I stop the MVP, the scheduled recording starts. The scheduled recordings used to have priority and stop the MVP live, but now it appears the live TV has the priority. If I watch live TV on the PC, the PC live TV will stop and the recording will start. My logs are attached. The show was scheduled to record at 1:28 PM

The patch fixed it for me too Sub, thanks. Got kicked out of LiveTV as normal.

Speaking of which, rather then getting kicked out, how about automatically switching over to the recording stream instead? ie. you'd just get a small pause, but would continue watching whilst it's recording.

Argh, found another place where the same problem occurs. In LiveTV, open the inline Guide, and Quick Rec the show you're currently watching. Nothing happens until you leave livetv.

Hmmm, 3 failed recordings last night after a week of no problems (I am using SQLite). Unfortunately I don't have the log files. Will keep an eye on it and post logs if problem is encountered again.

Another weird problem (and possibly related?) - occassionally a program records but is listed under a different program title - e.g. I had a scheduled recording for 'Max and Paddy' and while it was recording under 'Pending' it read that it was recording 'Desperate Housewives'. Once the recording was complete it was placed under my 'Desperate Housewives' group and under the 'Max and Paddy' it was listed as a failed recording???

As an example here is an export of my recordings (performed from the Config utility) note the filename, time, channel, description etc. are all correct but the title is not and so it appears to be placed under the incorrect group:

<recording>
<filename>E:\GBPVR\Recordings\Max and Paddys Road to Nowhere\Max and Paddys Road to Nowhere_20060523_23002330.mpg</filename>
<channel>Channel 4</channel>
<status>READY</status>
<startTime>2006-05-23 23:00:00</startTime>
<endTime>2006-05-23 23:30:00</endTime>
<title>Desperate Housewives</title>
<subtitle>19/23 - Don't Look at Me</subtitle>
<description>Six-part comedy drama. Peter Kay's spin-off from his award-winning Phoenix Nights series stars Max and Paddy who take to the open road in their prized motor home.</description>
