Try Girder - it has an Internet Event Server, which will allow you to send events to Girder from any IP enabled device. Girder can then control GB-PVR like usual.

I use this to control GB-PVR from my cell phone via an ssh session (using MidpSSH, and a tiny ncurses app I wrote)

At least with my experience, VNC is slow. Especially if there is video playing - it can't cope with it. So everything becomes sluggish (what if the Visualization is running while playing a song? all I wanted was to skip-song, not the view the whole shebang on my remote PC).

You know what? I have an idea for a different plugin/util combo - "remote-remote-control" (Remote^2 Control? R^2C?).

It's a plugin that runs on GB, listening on known port, together with a small GUI application that looks like a simple HT remote, that runs on other computers and sends the keystorkes over the TCP to a pre-defined "IP : port".
Second version would have it 2-way, displaying the "now playing", etc. on the "LCD" of that remote GUI Big Grin

What do you think?

Finally, this will allow me to sit in my backyard, with the laptop thrown next to me, and controlling the main stereo in the living room playing something for the whole family.

Oh, if someone is taking up the gauntlet, make sure it controls video, FM radio, Net Radio, etc...
(maybe I should post this in the plugin forum...)

madcat...I don;t see this making it into the EWA....VNC or native Remote Desktop connection if you are running XP Pro.....Remote Desktop in XP Pro is fast....or use normanr's suggestion.

I had issues with Video Archiver....I belive it is using an older version of the common GBVPR utilities.....after uninstalliing that plugin I have not had any errors.

I've updated the other thread with some event log messages.
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=17070

I'm thinking it may be a style.css sheet that I've been working on (as no crash since I stoppped playing)
Can a faulty style.css stop the service?

I downloaded build 40, stopped the recording service and quit GBPVR front end and installed the new build and when I re-launched GBPVR the GBPVR installer ran again and replaced the web directory with the original that came with GBPVR. I tried to cancel out but GBPVR refused to run until I re-ran the installer. Has anyone seen this before? I am running 97.09 of GBPVR. The wiki says the version included with GBPVR is build 38.

I have had this happen to me before, and now the way I install a new EWA build is to overwrite the web directory, and then _restart_ the recording service. (or restart the computer)

Did you first delete the old web-dir, you shouldn't any more. Now it's missing a few files that's why the installer starts, just extract everything to the gbpvr-dir, and say yes to: "overwrite all".

Just for clarification:

What you are saying is the new build (build 40) has files it relies on from previous builds and when GBPVR starts it puts those files back because they are missing.

or

Build 40 is complete and would run without any original files from build included with the GBPVR install, except the installer is being over protective and attempts to replace missing files in the web directory?

I meant the first. When you go to the wiki: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...edWebAdmin
You can see that when you delete the bin-dir (I wasn't completely right) the default ewa will be re-installed.
