How to schedule recording for S-Video input ?

Hi ! I'm trying to schedule recording for S-Video input with my ATI Theater 550 Pro, but just can't find out how to... I managed to get the Live TV working and it looks and sounds great. But since EPG is not relevenat to the source I'm intersted (Korean Satellite Settop), I need to manually schedule the recordings on a daily basis, recording time and possibly the bitrate for each recording.

It seems obvious that there's no menu for doing this, and thus I need to provide the schedule in some way, but how ?? I'd highly appreciate if somebody could shed light on this issue.

Just create another capture source for your capture device, configured to use the svideo input on you ATI 550 Pro, set the EPG to 'none' and manually create a channel called something like 'SVideo' or 'AV1'. It'll then be listed as a channel when you schedule recordings.

Many thanks, sub, for the prompt reply ! Well, I think my original question should have been 'How do I schedule recordings ?' !! On recordings menu, when I click 'Manual Rec', I see that pre-defined recording scheme pops up. But how do I define or edit 'Start Time', 'End Time' and 'Quality' etc on that window ? I see the Channels show up as I defined on the config panel, but other than those, I don't seem to be able to change the properties. Sorry, but I've been using the gb for a few hours now, so please bear with me.

I've tried others, but gave up due to the bugginess and the heaviness of those programs, and of course the price !! I find gbpvr so elegant, but obviously not so easy..

You have simply to choose "Manual Recording", that's all. There you can enter Start- and Endtime, Quality and Channel to record.

I am doing like this, because i can't control my PACE STV via MS Remote V2a and GB-PVR, so my STB has an own Channel with an entry like "AUX1". That's all :-D

That's strange... I chose 'Manual Rec', but I coundn't change the pre-defined Start/Endtime, Quality... How can I "enter" those items ?? I clicked, double-clicked, right-clicked but couldn't change, and thought strange coz that certainly is the most intuitive way of setting the schedule.

Mhm, u want to change the time? And click? I assume, that you try to change with the mouse?

Try instead your keyboard or your Remote Control.

With Cursor Up/Down you can choose the selected line within the "Manual Rec" Windows.
With Cursor Left/Right you can place the "cursor" from left to right and back again.

Example:
Open Manual Rec.
Go to the line with the start time.
Go right to the hour. Now you press up/down for changing.

Does it work for you?

Oh,,, my,,, Yup, of course I tried with the mouse, and never tried the keyboard. In fact the idea never/ever occured to me !! My remote control is CyberLink's, so gather it's not working. I have the Settop and the PC in my office, so I'll try this tomorrow, first thing in the morning. It's Sunday but I'll go there anyway ! Many many thanks.
ps. This really makes me wonder though. In all the previous windows, the mouse works fine, but why not on the setting window where the most intensive input should happen ??

If a Mouse works, or not, is not only independent on Windows. What a "click", "doubleclick", "rightclick", "Buttonclick" or something else does, it's dependant on how it was implemented within the application.
And you *CAN* use GB-PVR with a mouse, but this isn't the recommended method.
GB-PVR ist primary a Multimedia Software which is best controlled by keyboard/Remote Control.

It's like the controlling of games: Some of them are best controlled @ Keyboard/Mouse, some better with a Gamepad and other games better with a "Wheel" or something like that.

Thanks Sub! This solved the problem I was having! Now I can record whatever is playing on my digital box (movie channels & on-demand)! This software is awesome!

Yup, I agree ! It's a great piece of software, and this is a great community. I didn't realize the main interface for gbpvr IS the TV coz my main interface was the PC.

I think the last time I felt this good while running a software was when I first ran Netscape Mosaic !!!
