Ive had very bad problems with Meedio and Media Portal. All crash and do awfull things like stop working

Iam lookign for some good HTPC software thats stays up for atleast eight hours before crashing requireing a reboot. Is that to much to ask ?

Just wondering what codecs you recomend to install and or patch ect. Iam using a Dvico HDTV Plus HD Tuner card and a 6600 Gt Agp vidcard.

Iam thinking just install FFDshow for all my video needs and audio needs. And PureVideo for my HD needs. What do you think. I just want to isntall the Minimal needed as this is my HTPC and thats all it will be used for and i want it stable.

Also using a MCE remote. I want to ve able to view my HD Tv and normal Digital Tv as well. Also view my Divx Movies normal and 720p and 1080i WMV and HD Divx movies and clips.

Can't comment on your choice of capture card, but gbpvr is VERY stable - The only reboot I've done in the last month at least has been due to a power cut...

I have a dedicated PVR, the only software installed is as follows:

Windows XP SP2 Prof
gbpvr
Hauppaugge WinTV
Winamp
Real Player
AVG
VLC

Your current crashes could of course be related to hardware/drivers, in which case switching to gbpvr may not make your system more stable - however it's free so give it a try
