Pretty rude, considering you're asking for help, and people have responded.

I have been having a sporadic medium-term issue with EWA which I get around by UltraVNC'ing my PC and restarting GBPVR which gets past this, but I would like to find a long term solution.

The problem is simply this: If I have had gbpvr running for a while and use EWA from a remote PC over the internet, I can usually log in OK, however occasionally when I do something like swapping between tabs (too fast perhaps?) it simply pops up the standard IE error about no page existing or not able to be displayed, you know the bog-standard error for any page that either doesn't exist or you are typing the wrong address. After that, that's it, I simply can not log into any tabs again, which is where VNC comes in again to restart it.

Now, IF I restart GBPVR it works again fine, I can log in again, every time.

Looking at the EWA log I see a host of "Error Initializing Plugin" messages which may or not be of help in diagnosing this. The plugins all exist in the plugin dir.

If the recording service is actually crashing, it is likely to be this problem:-

Have you copied all the files in gbpvr\plugins to gbpvr\web\plugins?

@gEd: Yup I actually did install that patch a few days ago, been keeping on top of all the patches "in hope". Since then (and assuming <hoping> all patches are cumulative...) I installed yesterdays and todays GBPVR.exe patches, but still no joy:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ight=patch

btw here's another patch for today.... (different topic.. lots o' band-aids:-) ) http://forums.gbpvr.com/attachment.php?a...1151289035

@normanr Nope: My C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\plugins has these but My C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\web\plugins is empty. The error poinst to the C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\plugins not initializing .... "Should I" copy these across???

yes, you need to copy them across, otherwise the web site can't reach them.

There has been a confirmed GBPVR bug with the recording service just stops working....it is made more evident via the EWA. The patch mentioned above as well as here addresses the issue.

I'll certainly do that, and be very happy if it works, but I'm still having a hard time seeing why EWA would need them. They are all plugins associated with GBPVR viewing operations, rather tha EWA ones, surely? It also means duplicating plugin dll's in two different locations, surely not good practice (You can tell I know nothing about programming.... :-) )

mmm, I know that recording plugins are needed in both locations, if you want the EWA to work properly. I agree the duplication sucks.

Dude, i had explicitly implied sarcasm and footnoted it at the bottom of my post. i am nothing but greatful for the help of sub and UJB.

I hope they took it in that manner, and not the context you have.

thanks for the help Sub and UJB. i will rename my folder accordingly.

cheers.
