I have a new install of the latest release of GBPVR. I use a DViCO Fusion Plus (DVB) board in a box running Win2K - NVIDIA based motherboard with Athlon 2700, 1 Gb RAM, GeForce 4400 MX. And after reading forums today, I downgraded my Nvidia graphics drivers, and Purevideo back to "correct" versions, before re-installing GBPVR from scratch. So I have a nice clean install made AFTER all codecs were put in place.

Whenever I try to record - manual or scheduled, I get zero length MPG files as a result. I thought it was a MUX problem - but Muxchecker returns:

GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Found: InterVideo Multiplexer
FILE: C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\bin\ivimux.ax
VERSION: 3.0.88.0

Found: ShowShifter MPEG PS Writer
FILE: C:\Program Files\Home Media Networks Limited\ShowShifter\MpegWriter.ax
VERSION: 3.12.0.2945

I can and do watch live TV and record with the DViCO FusionHDTV software just fine. I can watch DVDs and AVI/MPG files using Windows Media player or PowerDVD.

The LOG for the recording session contains just this:
20:35:08.265 INFO Log started
20:35:08.265 INFO BDARecorder:::StartRecording(Dvico Fusion DVB-T PLUS, 1, E:\Video\Medium\Medium_20060706_20302130.mpg, )
21:41:00.171 VERBOSE BDARecorder::StopRecording()
21:41:00.171 VERBOSE BDARecorder::StopRecording() finished

The file produced - "Medium_20060706_20302130.mpg" is empty. Zero Bytes.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Is there nobody who has encountered this problem?

I still cannot record. As it turns out, I cannot watch live TV either.

When I attempt to, all I get is a black screen and no sound. I do notice, however, that CPU load jumps up to 30-40% while Live TV is selected.. Now I've tried every single Software Decoder choice on the GBPVR playback menu, but no difference. I have channels defined, I have mapped them across, I can see the live TV in the "map epg" config screen...

Help? Anyone?

Thanks,

Michael

Zip and attach a set of logs and I'll take a look if there is anything obvious going on.

Those arent the best muxes you have installed though. Most people here are using Cyberlink muxes (v5.0.1307 or higher are best).

Update: I turned the HTPC on tonight and suddenly my live TV was working. I changed nothing changed since my last post. So I updated the EPG at 7:30 PM, and then scheduled GBPVR to record a show from 8:30 to 9:30 PM

I came home at 11:30 PM and the CPU was pegged at 100% - which I did not expect. I killed the GBPVR recording service, and then had a look at the recording that was made. It was all of 2Kb - more thank 0Kb, but not watchable!

I have attached the log files, as requested. I've added the creation time to the end of the filename so you can trace the chain of events. (i.e. __7.28PM)

Thank you for diagnosing my problem. I do appreciate it, and look forward to fixing this. I really want GBPVR to work!

Regards,

Michael

p.s. I have installed PowerDVD v7 trial - I don't understand why the Cyberlink MUX is not installed too? What am I missing?

The cyberlink mux is not part of PowerDVD. If you use the forum search feature you'll find a download location. Many people end up getting it somewhere from the Twinhan site.

Thanks for your help.

I searched the forums, downloaded "TwinhanDTV 2.63 Build 07-02_DBurn-1.zip" from the Twinhan site, extracted "THMpgMux.ax", placed it in "C:\WINNT\system32\drivers" and registered it. the output from MuxChecker.exe now reads:

GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Found: InterVideo Multiplexer
FILE: C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\bin\ivimux.ax
VERSION: 3.0.88.0

Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\THMpgMux.ax
VERSION: 5.0.1307

Found: ShowShifter MPEG PS Writer
FILE: C:\Program Files\Home Media Networks Limited\ShowShifter\MpegWriter.ax
VERSION: 3.12.0.2945

So I started up Live TV ok. Then I pressed Pause, to see if it would timeshift. The screen went black and never came back. CPU usage shot to 100% and stayed there. I had to stop the GBPVR recording service (Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services) to get my machine back. I looked in the logs, and there are problems listed, but I don't know how to diagnose them.

What's the prognosis, Doctor?
Thanks,

Michael

I have very different hardware, but am experiencing this too. This doesn't happen with all recordings, but I can't find any pattern to the ones it does.

Are zero K recordings specifically related to bad or improperly installed mux'es?

After some more searching here I see that MUX's are only used for Digital recordings. So I am not experiencing the same difficulty as the OP. Anyone run into these similar symptoms using an analog tuner?

Reproduce your problem, then zip and attach a set of logs and I'll take a look if there is anything obvious going on.
