Audio Delay

I have a Sapphire Theatrix (ATI Theatre 550 Pro) and just have network channels right now. I'm about to order another Cablevision box and I wanted to know if I would have the same audio delay that I do with my network channels. The audio is delayed from video by about a second, so you hear sound after the people open their mouth to speak. Thanks.

BTW- there is no delay when I record, only on Live TV. THis is probably a problem many have had but I can't find a fix to it in the forums.

I'm assuming you're running a video and two audio lines from your cable box to your PC.

You're probably running the audio to your sound cards "line in" port. I don't know how the ATI does it, but the Hauppauge has a "line in" directly on the capture card. This way there is no delay.

Note: the Delay is caused because the PVR buffers. When you run your audio to the line in, there is no buffering.

the 550 does audio processing on board as well, and only needs a coax line for cable input. if using svideo or composite inputs you need to connect the rca cables to the purple breakout box so they are connected directly to the tuner. with this card there should not be any cables connected to your soundcard, ever.

There are two conditions that can cause the ATI550 to not sync audio and video:
1) The ATI video card Catalyst drivers over-writes the ATI550 driver with the Catalyst WDM driver. This is resolved by re-installing the ATI550 driver after the Catalyst driver.
2) GBPVR preview mode enabled but without "encoder pass-through" de-interlacing method. This is resolved by either disabling preview mode, or alternatively use "encoder-pass-through" with preview mode.

Also highly recommend using the latest ATI550 driver.
