Im looking into getting an hdtv card. I dont want to spend alot..I just want something simple that adds channels to gbpvr like how cable tv with a pvr 150 would do. Are there any hd cards that work without 3rd party software.

I am recieving it over the air in the us. Does anybody have tips on how to keep the signal good when splitting it 2 way? I guess an amplifier would be sufficient?

I plan on getting a sempron 64bit 2800+ ..Anyone have experience with these processors and gbpvr and even hdtv?

512 pc3200 mb of ram..Do you think more would be better?

Some random cheap case.. thats black..Around 30 bucks on newegg..Any recommendations.. I just dont want one with lights and windows and all that garbage..

Some motherboard with onboard audio...doesnt really matter

Any tips, recommedations???

thanks,
Zach

I would certainly go for a gig of ram, won't add that much cost to the pc and you will be glad that you did it. Wink

512 MB Corsair Vaule Select PC3200 $42

1gig G.SKILL Value PC 3200 $79

I have used both of these cases numerous times; over a dozen Sempron builds in the R103a and roughly 6 builds in the R-5059. (I build/sell systems as a side business to support my computer/electronic addiction!) They are cheap, come with a decent power supply (I have never had issues with any of them, and I am fairly picky!). When ordering, do not expect an Antec case, they are steel not aluminium, but they are great cases. Both are $30 plus shipping, the R-5059 currently has a $15 rebate on it, for $15 I might order one to keep around for my next build because it is so cheap! Big Grin

Rosewill R-5059

looking at the PSU in both cases, they're both pushing it but considering the system is pretty weak, it should be fine

agreeing with the previous poster 1GB of RAM will speed everything up

lastly onto the motherboard, the Socket AM2 mobos are still pretty iffy, especially the budget ones so i'm gonna recomend sticking with Socket 754 unless you actually plan to upgrade this one day(looking at your sig, it doesn't seem to be the case)

that ones not bad and its pretty cheap

Thats a micro atx motherboard...wont work..not enough pci ports...

So theres 3 hdtv cards im trying to decide which is best

The kworld,ati , or dvico?

Do they require 3rd party software to record or ccan i make it so they are just like other channels in gbpvr?

well how many PCI ports do you need, the vast majority of boards with IGPs are mATX so you're either going to choose from a small variety of crappy motherboards or get a cheap video card
