Hello

I installed and have been running the latest version for a few days and then out of the blue, I get no sound in Live TV or in recording playback, but I do get sound in FM and NET Radio (I have the Hauppauge WinTV 500 card).

The recorded TV does have sound I verified by running them from Windows Media Player. i tried all the volume setting in the Sound cotrol panel, but all are up and unmuted.

Thanks,
Kenny Goers

You have tried the volume controls in GBPVR??? These override other volumes. Tap the Right Arrow a few times while playing to see if it comes up - Sorry if this seems obvious if you are an experienced user but I've seen users miss this before as they use other options to control volume.

Took me a while once after the cat had sat on the wireless keyboard to put two and two together Wink

You were 100% spot on. But, you have to agree that it is pretty un-intuitive, it needs a volume level indicator somewhere.

I've been using the Microsoft Media Center keyboard and the volume buttons there control the system volume, and as an option it would be nice to just tie the volume to the system volume as Media Center does.

Thanks for the help.

Kenny.

Yes, volume control can be pretty messy. There is good reasons for most of its quirkyness, much of which can be blamed on compatibility with the very common Hauppauge 34 button remote (shares navigation keys with ch+/-. vol+/-)

I (PVR-150mce / no remote control) have a slightly different non consistent sound problem. Some of my TV recordings don't have sound. WinTV2000 and Live TV GBPVR (v0.97.13) always have sound for all channels.

I switch off my PC during the night and after boot my PC in the morning GBPVR starts by default.

Reproducible is when I use live TV (GB-PVR) before a scheduled recording starts then I have sound in the recordings.
I don't know yet the cause that scheduled recordings sometimes don't have sound (WM10 & GBPVR)...

This can be fairly common for PVR150 owners. All I can suggest is trying a different version of the PVR150 drivers and hope it helps.

There has been quite a bit of discussion about this in the past if you want to review it. Just search for 'pvr150 no sound'.

Hauppauge Benelux strongly advises the NL/BE/LU users only the use of the drivers on http://www.hauppauge.tv/sup/support_pvr150.php

I shall do this, before I go looking for other drivers..

I upgraded my Hauppauge (PVR150mce) base driver 2043_24103 to the latest (beta?) 2043_24108. Curious is that the country Hauppauge sites (USA/UK/Germany/Benelux) offers different base driver versions...

Any way, after the upgrade of the base driver my audio problem (no sound in live en recorded TV) still exists. Workaround is that you start Win2000 (and stop) before the use of GB-PVR :-)

Sometimes I forget to start WinTV2000 before recording a TV program (no sound). The scheduler run at user logon WinTV2000.

Vista media center is included since I (recently) upgraded from XP. I still use the (same) Hauppauge 150 and surprisingly in contrast with GB-PVR I have no (sound) problem when I use Vista Media center after reboot the PC. With other words it seems that there isn't a problem with the hauppauge drivers?

Maybe try editing the direct.ini file and setting the ForceStandard setting one of:

"ForceStandard=16" for PAL_B
"ForceStandard=32" for PAL_D
"ForceStandard=128" for PAL_H
"ForceStandard=256" for PAL_I
"ForceStandard=512" for PAL_M
"ForceStandard=1024" for PAL_N
"ForceStandard=4096" for SECAM_B

If you use some other format of SECAM, let me know and I'll give you more numbers to try.

GB-PVR would normally not set this, and the drivers would use the correct defaults, and this works fine for the vast majority of users, but is possible your driver isnt picking the correct default for some reason. (for example, if you were using a device bought from a PAL_I region in a PAL_B and the drivers kept defaulting to PAL_I)
