Weather plugin

When adding the weather report for Örebro, Sweden I get the report for some Grana or Grant village in Virginia (or something), USA.

This is the link to the city I want: <http://weather.msn.com/local.aspx?wealocations=wc:24557>

Adding the 24557-code to the weather-config in GBPVR, I get the US-city or village or whatever it is.

When I check for the weather för Örebro on the MSNBC site it shows up fine.

Is this a problem with MSNBC or the plugin?

It is a problem with the plug-in. It treats 5 digit codes as US zip codes.

So, is there any workaround, or do I live with some Swedish cities being mistaken for US ones?

For other Swedish cities it seems to work fine. Uppsala for instance has IIRC a 5 digit code but preceded by two alphabetic characters, and this one works as expected.

I downloaded and installed the newer weather plugin. It works better now, although the swedish city in Virginia still doesn't show up properly. Anyway, the fixes alone until now, like the better sized fonts and the maps actually changing now, make it quite useful! Very good! Thx.

I had thought that everywhere outside of the US has letters in from of the code. You seem to have found an exception. Since I can;t tell a 5 digit US zip code frpm tehis code there is nothgin the current plug-in can do. I plan to add an option in the next version for you to manually tell the plug-in to not treat specific 5 digit codes as US zip codes.

FWIW, I don't think it's your coding, it might very well be MSNBC. They probably started out with US-only codes. It then makes sense to use the regular postcodes. Enter the rest of the world. MSNBC then tries to follow up with the same identifying scheme but fails. Oh, well...

BTW, may I wish for you to add an option to download maps with degree Celsius instead of the current degree Fahrenheit?

I unfortunately can't relate to fahrenheit, as I suspect most of the non-english speaking world does too.

It would seem the only difference is the filename for the maps. See below för Örebro, Sweden. The "c-se" are the temps using celsius and the "f-se" is fahrenheit.

Maybe it helps knowing this?

Also, it seems it's the same map för Scandinavia and the Baltics, no matter the city. At least it looks that way, judging from the filenames.

One may speculate it's the same thing for the rest of Europe, and the rest of the world for that matter.

Awsome! Örebro shows up as expected after pressing the pause button on the remote, and the temperatures are now in Celsius. I'm very satisfied, thank you very much!!
