I also have the ATSC 110. I have noticed that 2 of 3 recordings over this last weekend have produced the 5.5kb files instead of recording correctly. I will change the "tune twice" setting to false tonight to see if that gets things back on track. I suspect that changing the "tune twice" setting to false causes some of my digital sub-channels not to tune correctly (recording an alternate sub-channel).

This is just a follow-up. I am still getting some failed recordings of 5.5kb. After changing settings, 2 of 5 recordings failed. There was no significant difference between having the "tune twice" setting set true or false. I see strong channels that lock, but still get the failures. I think I will start checking to see if different channels behave differently.

I'm also getting a lot of failed recordings. I replaced the NativeUtilities with the one on the other page, which seemed to help, but I'm still getting some failures. I've just noticed that I get these failures when the channel being recorded is on the same transponder as the previously tuned channel. I can replicate this.

Whenever I see:

VERBOSE Tuning Request is for the current transponder

in the log I get:

INFO Starting graph...
ERROR Failed to start BDA Graph
VERBOSE ERROR_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED
VERBOSE locked=0 present=0 strength=-1 quality=-1

I'm using a Twinhan DVB-S with the latest 'DTV-DVBS 878' driver.

You typically get the ERROR_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED error when the device is in use elsewhere in your system.

Nothing else is running between - it doesn't get chance to. Here's a test. I recorded ITV1 Granada, which worked, then tried ITV2 (same transponder) which didn't. Then I tried BBC 2 England (worked) then BBC News 24 (same transponder, didn't work).

If I restart the recording service between the two, i don't get the error.

Sorry, I dont know. There isnt an obvious cause in the logs.

I've done some further investigation. I uninstalled at started again with version 96.12. I upgraded to 97.07, switched to SQLite, then upgraded to 97.13. Each time I recorded a few seconds of BBC2, then cancelled that and recorded BBC News 24 off the same transponder for a few seconds. It worked fine up until 97.13, where it failed with the same error as before.
Here's the last successful log (from 97.07, which I've gone back to now) but it doesn't look like much help.

Is there anything else I can do to help?

Did you apply the patch from post #7 of the sticky 'v0.97.13 survival guide' thread?

I did before, but not on that run through the versions. I'll try that tomorrow.

EDIT: Yep, still ERROR_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED after 'Tuning Request is for the current transponder' when i use the patched NativeUtilities.

Thought I would add that I seem to be having the same problem with my Twinhan dvb-s card in 97.13 - I can scan for the stations and assign them, and can then view/record channel 1 or two from Optus B1 as per normal, but if I then try to record the other channel that will fail, as will subsequent attempts to record the initial channel. Restarting the recording service fixes things for the first recording. I seem to have only had this problem since rescanning the channels in 97.13 (I had originally loaded them in a clean 97.9 install).

And yes - I have applied the NativeUtilities patch.
