What would people think was the better card to choose for use with gbpvr the leadtek winfast pvr2000 or the hauppage pvr 250

both have hardware encoding

I would be using XP with SP2

I am based in the uk and would also want to use the mediamvp for streaming to my TV

thanks in advance

thanks for reply,

short and too the point !!!

but could you perhaps expand as to why the pvr2000 sucks

its cheaper and has fm radio, so it was my preferred option

as a pvr250 mce (which is what I really want) seems to be unobtainable in the uk without spending silly money and buying direct from hauppage.

thanks again

First of... Leadtek products last LONGER than Hauppauge from my experience with equipment that myself and friends have bought in the past.

Second, where are you planning to order a PVR2000 from? They were discontinued and I haven't been able to find a retailer.

I noticed you said UK, and I'm US.... but I'd really like a PVR2000. The last retailer I saw in the US ran out. =(

PVR-2000, discontinued? You mean the MCE OEM version, right? Because the retail box version is readily available in Australia!

I don't know about UK or USA, but here in Australia, both the Leadtek PVR2000 and Hauppage PVR-250 are available. (in fact, the Leadtek card can be found in quite a number of online stores! This is the retail box version, not the OEM MCE version).

Some stores here even sell the Sigma Designs XCard in addition to the above! (So you can have hardware encoding, decoding, and capture all bought from one place.)

Anyway, think about it from a features standpoint...

Leadtek product is far more affordable (Well, it is here)
Both offer virtually the same features with the exception of the FM tuner the PVR-2000 has.

And then, one has to took at the picture quality of capture. If both are the same and one is more affordable, its obvious which most people would go for! [Image: smile.gif]

I've used Leadtek products in the past, I don't see anything wrong with them. Heck, my old Leadtek TNT2-M64 video card from 1999 still functions properly today!

Thanks for the info it seems to confirm my view that the leadtek pvr2000 is a good product, and worth considering

it is available in the UK at least from Ebuyer.co.uk Leadtek PVR2000 Link

for about 66 uk pounds + delivery

Ebuyer also have a U.S Site http://www.ebuyer.com perhaps its available there

but does anybody know where a hauppage pvr250mce can be obtained in the UK

tkgafs, you might want to try MicroDirect in Manchester where I just purchased a PVR 350 (same as 250 but with FM radio and hw encoding) for £99 *includeing* a free DVD player (crap, but free!)

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Product....oupID=0

They also do the PVR250 for about £81

I found a place that is selling the PVR2000 I too am thinking about which PVR card to buy I have to decide; either 250, PVR2000 or AVerMedia 550, I am also thinking about the AVerMedia 179. Any oppinions I know this opens the flood gates.

I don't know much about the PVR2000 the AVerMedia 550 and the V-Sharp which I for recording. What I am looking for is quility picture and I like the FM radio feature. The PVR2000 is $150. The AM550 is about $110.00 and the H250MCE $99.00 or less I would look into the H350 but it's too expensive. Who has the best quality?
