Hi,

I wanted to change the aspect ratio by pressing F7 on the TVout of the PVR350 and on the Monitor. But pressing the key has no effect. What do I have to do to change the ratio of my Video?

Thanks for hints.

Afaik you can't change the AR on the tv-out of the 350. It only works with software-decoding.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

I tried that as well, but it had also no effect on the picture when I watched a video on the Monitor.

If think you need to select vmr7 or vmr9 (in config-playback) to be able to change the AR. You can try out quite easily.

Sorry, I stopped supporting or developing new features for the PVR350 TV-out long before I added aspect ratio control to GB-PVR, so it definitely wont work on that.

It should work just fine on your monitor if you've set the hardware decoder option to 'none - use software decoding'. Assuming you're using the default 'blue' skin, pressing F7 should show the aspect ratio name in the top left of the screen.

So I was wrong,:o should have tried it out first, thought I read it on the wiki, must have been other features.

I tried it again on the Monitor and it works. I'm very sad that that option is missing on the TV-Out since the picture is very much better on the TV-Out instead of the monitor-signal on a TV. Thanks for the info anyway.

Hi Sub,

First let me say thanks for all the hard work you put into this project.

I saw here and there that you stopped supporting the PVR-350 but didn't find anywhere why ??... I'm a new user and bought the PVR-350 because It has hardware decoding and I read the output quality is very good.

I'm very happy with the image quality but was very disapointed to see I could'nt change the aspect ratio (with F7).

Will you ever reconsider the PVR-350 support ?

Thanks for your help,

Franck

The decoder part PVR350 drivers are very buggy, and causes hard machine lockups and blue screens for about 50% of users. I cant support hardware with that sort of problem rate. Back when I used to still supported the PVR350's TV out, I used to get continuous grief from users about these problems.

Unlikely, unless Hauppauge come out with some amazing new drivers that correct the issues. I dont think they're even developing updated drivers for the PVR350 now, and even if they are, they dont have any interest in the decoder portion of them. The decoder portion of this chipset was sort of a dead end, and never used again in a Hauppauge or Conexant product.

Damm,

I wish I would have known that before buying it. So if I decide to use a software decoder with my graphic card TV-out to solve my problem, can I still use the hardware encoder of the PVR-350 ? (sorry for the newbie questions)

Again, thanks for the help.
