Hi Sub,

Sorry to bug you on this, but do you have any suggestions what to do?

My system doesn't wake up at the time of automatic update.
I set it up to run at 20:00, and this is what I get in the log:
Code:

30/07/2006 20:39:32.765    INFO    [9]    Auto-Updating EPG

The only reason it actually updated anything is because it was recordng at the time.
I upgraded to 09713 thinking it would work.

You can see, it didn't wake at 20:00.

Thanks,

GGF

I will do that, except that I have changed to hour to 20:00 a couple of days ago, and by chance, during all these days the system was already up during these hours.

I will change it back to the original 13:00, and see what happens.

Thanks,
GGF

Hi,

Logs attached.

Notice that I changed the hour from 14:00 to 20:00 and then to 13:00. Today, it was asleep during the entire hour of 13:00 to 14:00, and just didn't wake up.

I just checked the system logs - nothing.

Thanks,

GGF

It certainly looks like it scheduled the wakeup. I cant see any obvious reason it didnt wake.

What do you think will happen if I schedule a windows "scheduled task" at 13:00, which does basically nothing, but it will force the machine to really wake at this hour?

I'm not sure. You could give it a go.

Where abouts in Israel are you? Not bringing anything political into it, but I hope you've been managing to keep yourself and your family safe from everything that is going on around you.

I've had patchy success getting my EPG to update. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
Just when I think the problem is sorted, I have a run of missed updates where the PC wakes, but does not update.

However, I found a workaround.

I created a batch file containing the following...

Code:
echo off
del "C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\XML\tv.xml.3"
move "C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\XML\tv.xml.2" "C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\XML\tv.xml.3"
move "C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\XML\tv.xml.1" "C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\XML\tv.xml.2"
move "C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\XML\tv.xml" "C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\XML\tv.xml.1"
C:\Progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr -onlyemptyepg
C:\Progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr -onlyupdateepg

UpdateEPG.bat contains....
Code:
echo off
"C:\Program Files\XMLTV gui\xmltvconsole.exe"

I then call the batch file using Windows Scheduler, and set it to wake the PC.

Each morning at 06:22, the PC wakes up and runs my batch file, which in turn runs the UpdateEPG.bat. The PC then goes back to sleep once it has updated.

The last 10 updates have all been successful!! Smile

Hi,

Thanks. I have used this as a template. I do not wish to run this at 6 in the morning. I prefer (from a tv-guide server perspective) to run this between 11:00 and 13:00. So I have one scheduled task waking up at 11:00, doing one half of the TVGuide generation, and at 12:00 noon, another task gets the second half, and at 13:00 I an running the two gpbvr -only* lines from your script.

I will let you know my results.

Thanks,

Amit

Since upgrading to the latest release I have found that the machine does not wake for EPG updates. It does wake for scheduled recordings. The wakeup is set for 7am.... used to run like clockwork, but for the last week... nothing. I've watched it every morning over the last three days, and it does not wake up. Anything in particular I should look for in the logs?
Regards,
Hasso
