Which card provides a good tv-out?

Is it possible at all to set a resolution of 720x576 under a windows system? AFAIK there are only res like 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, etc.

Yes, but you need the latest or very-recent drivers, and refresh rate to be an exact multiple (or close multiple) of 50Hz for PAL (75Hz works but causes temporal motion issues).

Can anyone tell me some card modells which a not that cost intensive and easy to get. I think it should be an ati with the mentioned hardware deinterlacing and a good picture quality.

In the ATI range, the 9550 is minimum for hardware deinterlacing.

I also recommend the card have 128bit memory interface if you intend on upgrading to widescreen TV in the near future, but 64bit is sufficient for SDTV (standard CRT TV).

I recommend staying away from the ASUS 9550 because it has problems TV-out becoming disabled when the PC is rebooted.

I had a look on well known Internet auction site, I found some ati 9550 cards. They had all a tv-out, but on one site they wrote that it is s-video and I read here that the composite should be better. Is there a similar grafic card with composite tv-out?

Not sure where you are coming from, as S-video is higher quality than composite. S-video has luminance (light intensity) and chrominance (colour) separated, but composite combines them leading to luminance/chrominance crosstalk.

My ASUS 9550 outputs both s-video and separate composite, in the form of an S-video connector with additional centre-pin outputing composite signal via a supplied special adapter dongle.

Most mid/high-end video cards utilise a s-video connector, and some manufactures additionally provide dongle to break-out or adapt to composite.

You need to look around the various brands of 9550 cards (assuming that is what you want) and look for a brand that supplies a composite dongle with the card.

I'm coming from Germany, but I guess that I just remembered a wrong fact.
