I've got a funny problem where GBPVR will work fine mostly, but once in a while won't start live TV. I can't think of anything different i'm doing on the times it fails. I think this is the log entry:

03/08/2006 07:03:44.359 ERROR [1] Error rendering OSD: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
03/08/2006 07:03:44.359 ERROR [1] at GBPVR.xb3e61f7448c39547.x9b741357855e4489()
at GBPVR.xb3e61f7448c39547.x892c3a282a10378e()

The problem goes away if I restart GBPVR - but the WAF is slipping, so can anyone see the problem? logs attached -> [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

To be honest I'm not really sure.

Does the channel you're viewing have listings at the time?

yep, the channel has full EPG. Once the problem shows itself it it occurs on any channel regrdless of whether i select 'live tv' or go via the tv guide.
I get black screen and no sound. From there channel up or down doesn't rectify anything either - I just have to escape to the main menu, exit and restart. Very occasionally restarting GBPVR doesn;t fix it and I have to restart the whole PC. Weird!
It seems to be one of those odd creeping bugs - it never used to do it at all, but now seems to be more often, even if still the minority of times. (maybe 1 in 10 or 20 times)

I have seen this error message referenced in the forum before but could not tell how to fix it. Any ideas? If I need to attach logs can you please tell me how to find/create these logs too?

Thanks!!

Check this page: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FAQ/E...sages#toc1

If that won't solve it post your logs, from the gbpvr-dir (zipped).

Sub, do you think this might be related to the issue described in the survival guide sticky about DVB signal drop out? Or to look at it another way, if I try the nativeutilities patch, will it bugger anything up if it wasn't relevant?

Maybe. I dont really know.

I assume you're running with a normal, unmodified 'blue' skin?

yup, haven't touched the skin! I just thought that as I'm DVB maybe it was 'signal loss' causing the black screen (even though I'm not getting any pop-ups)???
BTW it's just done it again this morning [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

If you can't see anything obvious again, I'll put it down to one of those odd computer specific quirks and leave it until I need to do some reinstall or something in the future (I'm sure it'll happen, knowing me....)

Just a quick note to say that applying the native utilities patch from the 97.13 survial guide seems to have fixed this issue.
