I do have one question...whilst right now recordings seem to be ok, i am still getting the following message repeated about a thousand times! (2 x sets initially followed by a lot of gets) in the GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log
You should only get that if you've got INIT_MODE=IVAC. Are you sure you've edited the right setting? Did you notice there are two device with similar names [Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2] and [Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2]? I'm guessing maybe you edited the one you're not using.
Update...last night gbpvr was scheduled to record several shows..as follows
the simpsons 1900 - 1930
the simpsons 1930 - 2000
My name is Earl 2000 - 2030
Southpark 2130 - 2200
band of brothers (some time later)...followed by more south park....etc.
The first three recorded fine then all subsequent recordings failed.
I have attached the logs, I have seen the following in the logs if any use...
in RecordingService.exe-native
ERROR Failed to route video crossbar
this error only shows up for failed recordings
and also in GBPVRRecordingService.exe
8/10/2006 9:29:09 PM.828 VERBOSE [16] File does not yet exist (may fail): E:\MyVideos\South Park\South Park_20060810_21302200.mpg

Given the crossbar routing error, it sound like your PVR USB2 drivers are no longer functioning correctly at that point. Do you have the latest Hauppauge drivers?
