sub,

I do have one question...whilst right now recordings seem to be ok, i am still getting the following message repeated about a thousand times! (2 x sets initially followed by a lot of gets) in the GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log

14:29:45.844 VERBOSE SetFilterProperty - IKsPropertySet->Set propertry failed

14:29:45.854 VERBOSE SetFilterProperty - IKsPropertySet->Set propertry failed

14:29:46.025 VERBOSE GetFilterProperty - IKsPropertySet->Get propertry failed

14:29:46.045 VERBOSE GetFilterProperty - IKsPropertySet->Get propertry failed

Any idea what is causing this? Is it a problem?

You should only get that if you've got INIT_MODE=IVAC. Are you sure you've edited the right setting? Did you notice there are two device with similar names [Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2] and [Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2]? I'm guessing maybe you edited the one you're not using.

Nope for sure I edited the [Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2]

I have attached a zip containing direct.ini and the log file.

I edited the direct.ini file at 2.28pm, and the log shows the erros just after at 2.29pm

Did I screw something up? it is working right now after allSmile

Can you also try setting INIT_MSP=0 to see if that error goes away?

Update...last night gbpvr was scheduled to record several shows..as follows

the simpsons 1900 - 1930
the simpsons 1930 - 2000
My name is Earl 2000 - 2030
Southpark 2130 - 2200
band of brothers (some time later)...followed by more south park....etc.

The first three recorded fine then all subsequent recordings failed.

I have attached the logs, I have seen the following in the logs if any use...

in RecordingService.exe-native

ERROR Failed to route video crossbar

this error only shows up for failed recordings

and also in GBPVRRecordingService.exe

8/10/2006 9:29:09 PM.828 VERBOSE [16] File does not yet exist (may fail): E:\MyVideos\South Park\South Park_20060810_21302200.mpg
8/10/2006 9:29:26 PM.442 INFO [5] Recording file cant be found. Giving second chance: E:\MyVideos\South Park\South Park_20060810_21302200.mpg
8/10/2006 9:29:26 PM.442 VERBOSE [5] Stopping recording
8/10/2006 9:29:26 PM.442 VERBOSE [5] Stopping recording oid:1
8/10/2006 9:29:27 PM.043 VERBOSE [5] Restarting recording
8/10/2006 9:29:27 PM.043 VERBOSE [5] DirectRecordingSource about to start recording oid:1 channel:74
8/10/2006 9:29:27 PM.664 VERBOSE [5] recording started

The 'File does not exist' line only shows up on failed recordings

Given the crossbar routing error, it sound like your PVR USB2 drivers are no longer functioning correctly at that point. Do you have the latest Hauppauge drivers?

i do have the latest drivers, but have had a few usb issues on that motherboard in the past - maybe related??

I think it's time to upgrade to a pci card...maybe a pvr 350 or 500
