I tagged myself a jeantech http://www.jeantech.com/Product....on.html for £30 (it's actually jet black not the grey black as in the pictures)and looks nice on it's side but its only mATX with space for two hard drives if you lose the floppy dirve. The only problem is the psu noise which I will replace with a silent 80mm fan when I get a chance.

I've got a Silverstone LC-03 - which though a bit pricy is an excellent case.

I found these nice looking cases - very similar to accent

I especially dig the D-vine 6 SQ [Image: tounge.gif]

So THAT's what you've been spending the donation money on... [Image: tounge.gif]

Consider these bits:
Pro-case CS-100 case
Black DVD Drive (perhaps DVD+-RW).
Leadtek K7NCR18GM
Athlon XP 2500+ or faster
Two sticks of 256MB PC3200 DDR RAM
HDD (seagate 200GB?)

The Procase CS-100, lying on its left side, the DVD drive is "mid mounted".

The Leadtek K7NCR18GM has TV-Out onboard, and is an nForce 2 Chipset, which is recommend for the Hauppauge PVR350/PV250 cards. $195 - $205 - about the same as a decent KM400 based MATX board with a AGP card with TV out - and draws less power (so less PSU noise...)

An Athlon XP 2500+ or faster, and underclock (FSB down from 166/333 to 133/266 or even 100/200) to cut the power draw of the chip - or a Sempron with its PowerNow thingy similarly underclocked.... A Duron may do just as nicely though. And undervolt if the motherboard will let me. (even less power! and less CPU fan noise needed)

Fans will need replacing with silent ones...

has anyone got an antec sonata case

they are claimed to be very quiet, but I'd like to "hear" [Image: rock.gif] reports from anyone who actually has one before I purchase as they are pretty expensive

If your handy you can try the following

Buy on ebay a broken XBox and put your hardware inside. You could get one for about $35.00

What I am doing is converting an old VCR which after you remove the VCR gear it is very open. If you go this route get one of the older models the new ones are much smaller.

My development machine has a antec sonata case. Its good. Much more quieter than mose cases and power supplies. That said, its no where near silent - particularly with my Ati Radeon 9800pro (stock fan replaced arctic silencer).
