I just tried calling a friend at work. I heard him like any old phone call, but he said I sounded like I was calling from Algeria. Don't know if they have bad phone lines, but he meant I sounded funny. But still, cool program.

Yeah, 300 per 7 days. Quite ok to me.

But only, if you have bought credits by them:

"* Max 300 minutes per week of free calls, measured over the last 7 days. Unused free minutes cannot be taken to the following week(s). If limit is exceeded, a minimal rate of 1ct/min will be charged (as shown in the FreeCall software)."

Same offers VoIP-Buster (one Software, which i am using), but even if they had a comparable offer too, they now limit to 10sec's calls.

Skype has free 'Skype-out' calls for free at least through the end of the year. This is for US and Canada land lines only though. Just go to the dialpad and dial the number no need for credits. I've used it a few times. Works well.

I'm currently trying a dual phone at the moment. It has a socket for a regular phone line + USB connection (via craddle) to PC for skype. Its also wireless for easy use around the house.

I've been using the Skype-out feature for super cheap toll calls. The quality is pretty good, but is not like using a regular phone - there are slightly muffled tones to voices sometimes. No noticeable delay or anything though.

My wife uses the [currently] free skypeout feature to call US landlines from Canada all the time. Hard to beat Skype for sound quality over IP.

My wife and I have been using Skype to communicate ever since she moved to Indonesia. While calling her land line costs me .04 cents a mintue (US) it costs us nothing to do a PC to PC call and the quality of PC to PC IMO is better! The Video feature is also very nice.
