You'd earn the gratitude of millions (slight exaggeration, only slight though) if you developed support for DVB-T cards. (IMO DVB-S card users are currently far better catered-for by 3rd-party software than we -T users).
Pretty well *all* the proprietary software for both -T and -S cards is - by common consent - among the worst on the planet. You only need to glance at user forums to see that.
Can I put in a plug? My card is the AVerTV DVB-T. AVer's software is gruesome.
the 233A1008104802580000 is the entry is the config file for the channel, and the 30 near the end is the duration of the recording.
Would it be possible to get GBPVR recording scheduler to run such commands at an appropriate time and let the Hauppauge software do the actual recording? - I imagine its probably one of those things where it would be simpler to just develop proper DVB support!
Just a though on a possible temporary way of getting DVB recordings from the GBPVR TV guide
Have contacted Sub about working on a plugin to provide DVB-T support. This would be for the UK, being where I live.
There may be other cards but I would like to stick to Hauppauge. Seems that the choices are Nova-T USB, Nova-T PCI and Dec2000-T. I am all out of PCI slots so would prefer a USB device. Is the Dec2000-T like a Nova-T USB but with standalone capability?
Would appreciate any helpful comments or votes for which card.
I have tried so hard to find the right software/compatibility/functionality in the PVR market, but have failed after purchasing & trying the likes of Showshifter, MS Media Edition (along with dedicated PC) etc.
(I also own a DEC-2000t & MVP)
I have now come accross GB-PVR, and suddenly the world looks a better place especially having experimented with the MVP stuff.
It's great.
The only area, in my mind, that would allow me to tick all the boxes is DVB compatibility.
Just wanted to add my enthusiasm towards the DVB support.
Include me too on the DVB support request bandwagon !!! I bought an MVP and due to GBPVR are now contemplating buying a tuner card. However to buy an analogue tuner card to get 5 channels seems a bit pointless when with the digital ones can get over 30 channels + radio (in the UK). Just think you could probably grab a 7 day EPG from them too! I'm also not a real programmer but am willing to help on any documentation.
Cheers
Rob
I think ALAN1s idea is a good way to get the first step going.
I must say i'm very satisfied with GBPVR and sub knows that. But in a few days i had to turn my back onto GBPVR because i've bought a Technotrend (aka Hauppauge Nexus) DVB card. Now i have to go back to this configuration nightmare i've stopped with GBPVR......
Im a reasonably seasoned dotnet developer - and i really want DVB support before i consider which TV capture card to buy so im up for collaborating on creation of a DVB plugin or something of the sort - anyone else interested? blum??
And also, is there a good resource for background information on the technical aspects of coding for GB-PVR and associated things?
