Is the wiki hosted on a different server than the home page and forums? I ask because the performance/reliability of the wiki is, in a word, abyssmal. I can't understand why something so important top GBPVR's success as the wiki is continually either super slow or nonexistant most of the time.

What gives? I know it's not just me,half the devs here notice the same thing.

They are hosted on different servers. The homepage and wiki are on one server, the forums are on a separate server.

I've not been experiencing this. In fact I'd found the opposite, and have been seriously considering moving the forums over to that server aswell (where I get better backups, more visibility of server logs etc).

The wiki seems to be working well for me at the moment. Please post when it's next not working well and I'll take a closer look.

Gladly sub; I'll keep an eye on it for you as I realize you're a pretty busy guy. It's just frustrating sometimes when it takes forever to resolve and render sometimes. I think if others monitored it and also gave their locations (as some are doing here) it will go a long way to helping determin the issue.

The forums always perform well for me (btw I am in the US) but the wiki and home page are always a crapshoot - and always at the same time which stands to reason. Also, at the times when I haven't been able to get to the wiki or home page, the forums were still up and performing fine so I doubt it's a routing issue.

They've been okay for a while, but at the time I started the thread it was unavailable.

Thanks!

Now, I'm only a n00b here but in the last few days the forums have run flawlessly for me but the wiki has been a bit sludgey. Also, I was showing a friend the screenshots page and half of the images timed out. I'm in Vancouver, BC. If its a location issue, then its not the servers but the routes - contact the host to do some QOS tests from different backbones.

On some other web useability / design ideas:

- BODY background color on the main site isn't set (I have my browser set to grey so that I'll notice these things - odd thing is that some wierdos find this setting in their browser and set it to fuscia - so I always recommend hardcoding it)

- Icon in the upper left corner of the forums page goes to the home page of the forums and not the http://www.gbpvr.com home page (there is already a link to the top page of the forums - but no link back to the home page in the forums - standardization of that icon's link would give the site a more integrated feel)

(Ok, I'm a bit of a web design tweaker - though dont ever look at my sites Smile )

Did I mention that GBPVR is the coolest $hit ever and you'll probably see my name a lot more around here Smile
