I have tried both windows mobile 5 and Palm over the sprint network and have the same problem. The devices get and bad formated header error.

I've got meself a windows Mobile 5 phone. It's got windows Media 10 on it, and so I've been trying to find a compatible encoding from the streaming so that I can use my phone (via WLAN) to watch streaming recordings. It's also got tcpmp on it (which looks like vlc) but it doesn't seem to accept stream.vlc as a file.

I'm guessing I would like to know how I can change the extention of the streamed file, and two anything that needs to be done to get windows media working - I think I tried it froma pc and didn't have much success (setting the format to wmv etc).

Still on Holiday until next week Big Grin ....I had some time so I stopped in to see what was happening.

First....did you try setting the streamer to WMV instead of VLC (this is an option in the config of EWA)....doing this should generate a stream.wmv header.....which, if your phone with windows media 10 supports windows media video (which I do not know if this is supported in a mobile edition or not), should kick off.

I tried both on each phone from EWA. then I tried steaming from a exteral web site that use WMV and that worked. I also tried several differnet video formats.

PM me the link to the site that you can stream WMV files from via your phone.....I'll see if I can figure out what may be different.....

Are you using the native player or the browser plugin?

Sorry
My typo neither worked for me on either palm or windows mobile with VLC or WMV. I also tried several of the other settings. they both give a similular bad formated header error. I tried Sprints Palm 700p, windows mobile 6700 and Samsungs new windows mobile(not available to the public yet still testing here at Sprint).

Just to confirm....you have not been able view video on your mobile from other websites as well....it sounds as though you have not been able to get any video to work on your mobile from anywhere...

If this is not the case.....send me the link of a site that you can view video on your mobile perhaps I can figure it out.....

If this is the case then I will need to research streaming video to mobile devices to see what the common settings are......

Let me know.

UncleJohnsBand Wrote:* Updated EWA to not show stream button unless VLC is actually installed in the directory specified in the config.

Now, this seems the be the source of my problem not being able to stream recordings. I have VLC installed, but not in a standard directory.
Where is the config for this so I can correct it?

P.S Thanx for a really great plugin!

/Barsk

Edit: I reinstalled VLC in the default directory and then the stream button showed up. AND the configuration setting in config for setting the VLC path also showed up. That was previously hidden - effectively stopping me from entering the custom path I had.

So a bug is found I presume. :-)

Essentially that bug stops anyone not having VLC in default path from ever getting the possibility to edit the VLC install path or getting the stream button switched on.

I have a gigabit LAN, so bandwidth is of little concern.
Is there a was to stream video in its native format (ts, dvr-ms etc), to be decoded at the client side with for instance the Dscaler5 or Nvidia purevideo decoders?

The VLC tool is great, but transcoding gives poor quality regardless of settings, and I get bad deinterlacing compared to Nvidia purevideo standards for sure.

Or is it possible to configure VLC to do this?

Hmmm.....the configuration settings for VLC are not hidden in any way.....when you reinstalled VLC did you also reinstall the EWA 43.1? I am thinking perhaps that the friendly gbpvr auto-restore kicked in at some time and overlaid EWA files with an older version.....

Let me know.
