Here's the gbpvr.exe.log as requested.

I've checked a couple of sequences and can tell you:-

If I select an artist, ctrl+p starts playing tracks, crtl+g goes to playlist, ctrl+s stops play & clears the list

If I select an album, ctrl+p starts playing tracks, crtl+g goes to playlist, ctrl+s stops play & clears the list

If I select an artist, ctrl+p starts playing, select another artist, ctrl+y then ctrl+g goes to playlist and both sets of tracks are shown (1st one playing). ctrl+s stops play but doesn't clear the list.

Hi

Can you try setting this for me in your config.xml and try the same test: <UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>false</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>

I just tried what you described and my one stops the music and clears the currently playing play list.

OK,

Having set usewindowsmediaaudio..... to false:-

Select artist then ctrl+p track doesn't play. ctrl+g to playlist shows track. ctrl+s clears the list

Select artist then ctrl+p track doesn't play. Select another artist, ctrl+y, ctrl+g to playlist shows both tracks. ctrl+s clears the list

Select artist then ctrl+p track doesn't play. Select another artist, ctrl+p, ctrl+g to playlist shows 1st selected track has been replaced by second selected track. ctrl+s clears the list

Set usewindowsmediaaudio......back to true:-

Same repeatable symptoms as yesterday plus I notice another odd behaviour when I repeat the last test above.

I've discovered that if I select an artist, ctrl+p it starts playing. If I then select another artist and press ctrl+p again the playing stops. ctrl+g shows only the 1st track in the playlist (unlike what occurred above it doesn't get replaced). Pressing ctrl+p Again restarts play, ctrl+s stops play but doesn't clear the list.

Lastly.....yes all the M3U files are in the directories where the relevant MP3s are located (My files are stored in directories /artist/album/ )

This should still be a configurable item. Some people wanted play to always start a new playlist, others (me included) wanted it to queue items.

I didn't get a chance to look at the code and your playlists, I'll try and get on to that for the weekend.

I have some more info

My current setting in config is to start a new playlist on each ctrl+p (no tick in config box). That behaviour seems to happen if usewindowsmediaforaudio... is set to false.

When usewindowsmediaforaudio.... is set true, the additional ctrl+p on a different artist doesn't start a new track or playlist, it just stops the current playing track. In fact it acts as a "Pause" button because repeated ctrl+p presses stop & start the track from where it left off. if I use ctrl+s then ctrl+p, it re-starts the track from the beginning. The use of ctrl+s here may stop the track playing but it doesn't clear the playlist. This behaviour only happens if I've pressed ctrl+p on a different artist without stopping play first.

If I start GBPVR, select an artist, ctrl+p then ctrl+s the track starts & stops and the playlist is cleared as you would expect. If I select another artist and ctrl+p, a new playlist is created. The odd behaviour seems related to pressing ctrl+p on another artist without pressing ctrl+s first.

Psycik ... it seems you are being very active in responding to posts in this thread so I thought I would try to call your attention to a genre issue that I posted yesterday in this thread, which you started regarding v3.12 a couple of days back.

Could you have a look at the issue I reported and advise when you get a chance?

Thanks.

TuckerTFT, did you get my pm?? I sent you one with my email address in it, could you send me an MP3 that you're having trouble with so I can check what tags are available in it. Could you let me know what it's currently returning, and what you'd like it to return also.

Bobins, my trapping of the ctrl-p may be interferring with the WindowsMediaForAudio since I think that's how it works, i.e when Window Media is used it processes the commands regardless of the plugin. So In effect I may have less control.

I think very early on most ML2 users had to switch Windows Media off.

Ok I can set use windowsmediaaudio to false but when I do that I get nothing when I press ctrl+p.

Am I missing something?

Sorry but I also noticed something else too. When I initially scan for tracks, the "Reading MP3 Tags" counter works its way up to 4000 which is about right for the number of tracks I've got. When I subsequently use "Update Library" from within ML2, the counter only does up to about 700.
