I actually have several folders, but the request is to be able to mark a recording for trancode when you schedule it. It would save a little manual intervention!

well, I tried doing this manual transcoding, and it works....the only problem is that the transcoded file is not available to watch anymore through gbpvr.......what I am looking for is a way to tell gbpvr to manually transcode a file--delete the original when done--and link the new file to gbpvr so i can still watch it, just takes up less space. Sub, anything like this possible in the future....or should i start hunting for plugins?

There's this article from the wiki that sounds like what you're looking for:

Thanks for the info.....looks a little complicated and incomplete. Plus, it looks like he did this with the intention of converting ALL of his recordings, while I am looking for a way to simpl,y convert certain ones on demand........although i am looking into the coding for what he has done to see if I can't modify it to work in a way i need it to. Thanks.

I'd like to second/third whatever this request. It's also be really nice to see it implemented in the webadmin, with checkboxes and (a drop down list of trasncode type and to keep Delete/Original LOL!) so you could quickly choose yes, transcode that one, that one and that one, keep that one in BOTH origianl and new formats, one for playback on the MVP and one for safekeeping ... lovely Smile

Yeah, that page is a bit incomplete. I think what you are wanting to do is add a file name to a queue, and then later have something like Windows Task Scheduler process everything in the queue at a later time.

I have the working trancode files, Give me a sec, and I'll zip and doc just the files...

I think they're more interested in doing it at scheduling time rather than manually adding files to a queue. For example, you might have several season recordings, but only want to convert Futurama to ipod format automatically, so you select this when you schedule the Futurama season recording.
