Zehd: Ive replaced the driver and followed the HIP guide. My remote works just not the IR blasters. When use the test IR function to test the IR blaster output the red light on blaster blinks but ive spend 4 or 5 hours judt trying to find the exact right spot on the STB even with the cover off. Still does not work. Other suggestions?

Zed: I'll try going to thorugh GBPVR but what do you mean "worked OK" and how do you train it in GBPVR??

Thanks to all.

I mean, it changed the channel on my box just like it should.

When you set up the capture source for your set top box you select the blaster driver in the Channel Changer dialog. If you select MCE 2005 IR Blaster (I'm not sure exactly how it's labeled...I'm not at home so can't look) it will then present a dialog box so you can select the set top box you're using. That's so the codes it sends will match what the box is expecting. If yours is not already listed, you'll need to 'train' it...IIRC there's a box to click. Then it asks you to aim your remote...the remote for the set top box, not the remote you use with GB-PVR...into the IR receiver (the one connected to your PC) and press the 1 button, then the 2 button, etc. It reads the codes the remote sends and writes them into files. It then uses those codes to build the channel change command to send to your set top box. If you didn't set it to match your box or didn't train it, it's probably not sending the correct codes.

I think this process is covered in more detail in the wiki...

Thanks to all.

Having a flashing IR bud is half the battle... (In the past, no red light showed me that one of the ports wasn't working)

A drastic step would be to remove the front panel of your STB to see exactly where the sensor is. Or a really bright light for you to see through the smoky lens...

One thing is people trying to use the IR bud without removing the protective tape...

If you have done all that, then it's possible that the code you've captured isn't quite right. You might want to check remotecentral.com for the correct files.

What device is your STB? by some miracle I might have the codes

So I have gotten the blaster to work...kind of. MY STB in Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2100. If the blaster is about 4" away from the STB and angled just perfect then it will work. I have tried removing the cover of the STB, the plastic screen, taken the blaster apart, looked at the blaster in my digital camera (make sure IR is transmitting). The blaster transmits and work from 4" away but not with the STYB cover off, with the screen missing, or right up against the IR reciever on the STB. This is true with HIP and the new drivers and without HIP and native GBPVR MCE Remote settings. Any ideas??

Moving the bud around to make it work is not a software issue, it's hardware. That will save you from banging your head against that wall...

Unfortunatley I haven't a clue. Could be the sensor on the STB is misaligned. Could be the bud is bad.

I though at first that the bud was bad. I asked Hauppauge to send me a new one. After recieving it, both act the exact same way. Thsi makes me think that the buds are ok and something is funky with something else.

If I havent heard of it then GBPVR does not directly support it. You could probably use HIP or Girder to make it work but i would need to know more about the remote.

Did anyone resolve the 'only IR Blaster 2' working issue. Or does anyone have a setup wher they are using both blaster channels? I'm trying to control two cable boxes and have tried two different MCE Ir controllers and I cannot get any sort of functionality out of either using 'IR Blaster 1'

There might be something in the room interfering with the sensor. Direct sunlight??
