Posted this over on byopvr too, but since my preference is to use GBPVR, figured I'd try here. This is all relatively new to me, so forgive me if this is a noob question ...
I'd like to be able to use my htpc to both watch/record/playback TV, and to play music through my stereo. The catch is that I want the TV audio to play through the TV, and I want music to play through my stereo in a different room. I know how to get both TV and music to play through either only the TV speakers or only the stereo, but how do I get the two different sources to play through two different sets of speakers (short of having to throw a switch manually).
I've started reading about things like the MediaMVP, and am wondering if I couple this with something like GBPVR I can accomplish what I desire? My TV is limited to two inputs (I really need to buy one with more input choices), and I suspect that I could use these two different inputs to try and accomplish this (hook one up to GBPVR and use that input for TV audio, hook the other input up to a MediaMVP and drive the video from that to the TV and the audio to my stereo and use that for listening to music). It'd be a little clunky, but it's the only way I have thought of to do what I want. Or is there something that I have missed that will easily let me do this all through the same 10 foot UI? Is there a way to tell GBPVR to use one playback device for TV-related audio, and a different device for music?
Thanks for any pointers anyone can give me,
Tom
