When I boot the machine that has the KVM switch focus, all is well with the scroll wheel and browser navigation buttons. When I switch to the other machine, they don't work on that machine. If I then switch back to the first machine they won't work on that either.

Occasionally, depending on the machines' state (partially sleeping or fully awake) I still get scroll wheel functionlity but sometimes it all goes pear-shaped when it adopts a generic mouse profile and the pointer moves at a million miles an hour because it isn't applying my movement/acceleration settings for the mouse.

Cheers,
Brian

I've tried about 3 different KVM switches (can't remember which models ... not Belkin)

The automatic ones had intermitent problem with the mouse as I too used a USB/PS2 converter. So I'd advise you not to mix USB & PS2.

The best KVM switch was a fully manual switch box... but I've not seen one of those around for a while.

Arrgh! I just plugged in the Belkin 2port KVM (PS/2) but can't get it to switch! Tried it with a MS Multimedia Keyboard and a unbranded one.

Any ideas?

OK, so the £1.50 unbranded one works but the MS Multimedia Keyboard seems to be not sending the Scoll Lock hotkey right....

All I can say is that if you got the one you originally posted about (same as mine), there's an art to the timing of the "Scroll Lock", "Scroll Lock", "Up/Down arrow" combination. I sometimes find it more reliable by using the Scroll Lock twice follows by the 1 or 2 number keys.

Yeah I got the Belkin one I linked to in the 1st post. I think it's somthing to do with the fact that my MS keyboard dosn't have a dedicated Scroll Lock key. Can't find anything using google tho Sad

Ah! That could be a bit of a problem. How are you trying to work this then? Programmable function key?

Could it be the stupid F-Lock button?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894513/

I hate F-Lock! (amazing, how FLock looks like a certain other word if you squint)

Hmm, it's sending a Scroll Key command (tested using Excel), but the Belkin KVM dosn't seem to be picking it up.

Edit. Yeeha I'm happy again Smile . After much googling and reading about people slagging of KVM's, MS and f-lock keys I come across this comment
Quote:Don't get the Avocent SwitchView. I have it at work and it is absolutely horrible. It can't remember the FLock and it uses CTRL-CTRL as the hotkey which causes havok when you are trying to cut and paste rapidly.
I thought I would give it a go and CRTL seems to be an undocumented, by Belkin or Amazon, hotkey! Thankyou ChrisCla. Smile
