Saw this and thought i'd suggest a possible workaround.

Quote:Incompatibility with IE7 Beta3
Just a warning for those thinking about installing the newly release IE7 Beta3. It seems this breaks a few things in GB-PVR. Specifically, it sound like the IE7 is changing the permissions of the local system account such that it no longer has the permissions to start processes.

This will mean several things started by the recording service will not work in GB-PVR with IE7 Beta3 installed. Things that come to mind include:

- Comskip
- MVP Server
- UpdateEPG.bat
- ParallelProcessing.bat
- PostProcessing.bat
- Conversion processing
...and probably some other stuff I cant remember at the moment

Google turned up a couple of other apps having the same problem with IE7 Beta3, so my advice for now is not to install it on a machine with GB-PVR.

Isn't this just a case of changing the user that the RecordingService uses?

I can't answer sixgun's question but can add that IE7 RC1 won't let you acivate mpeg in the just released Roxio Easy Media Creator 9. Their working with MS to fix this by Vista's release. I wonder if http://www.fiddlertool.com/useragent.aspx
would help at all.

Yes, I think so, but I havnt tried it myself.

This is a real pain in the butt. Currently I can automatically set up the recording service without having to ask the user difficult questions. To support IE7 during the GB-PVR install I'll need to ask the user about the account and password they want to use for running the recording service.

I wonder if it's possible to programmatically set up a GBPVR user with enough permissions then use that. I've not had much dealings with security/setup in windows. I guess it must be possible. If you don't have the time to look into it (i'm guessing not!), I don't mind having a go, in terms of the security side. I'm not too hot in the deployment side, although i know someone with a bit more experience.

Regards.
