Does the My Music folder have to be on the gbpvr pc itself or can it be a network drive? I have it set up as a network drive and whenever I go into My Music in the web admin it does not find anything... I just get the link to go back a directory ([..])

Just to be a little clearer, it has the names of the folders I set up via GB-PVR, just no music files inside...

cubsfan Wrote:I get the same behavior and I believe that what you said is a true statement that it must be on the same machine.

Are your drives UNC encoded in the GBPVR vonfig rather than using a mapped drive letter?

My Music and Photos are on a network drive.....in the config file of gbpvr you encode the location in UNC.

Is should work......I have seen a couple of issues when people have weird characters in their folder names themselves.

Let me know.

I don't have a problem with mine.

Here is how I have tried setting mine up..

My music is in a folder on a computer named Carlito under 'My Music'
I mapped a network drive w: to \\Carlito\My Music
I also tried sharing the folder as just Music and mapping the drive ie. \\Carlito\Music

I then tried just going straight to \\Carlito\Music instead of mapping the drive..

No luck with any of those scenarios..

The music plays fine when in GB-PVR just not through the webadmin...

In my config.xml file my music entry looks like below....

Code:
<MusicLibraryDirectory>My Music~\\Naslite-smbg\Disk-3\My Music|Music.com~\\Naslite-smbg\Disk-4\Music\Download Music.Com|iTunes~\\Naslite-smbg\Disk-3\Converted iTunes|</MusicLibraryDirectory>

It is three entries for music....they all retrieve info without issue....

What does the line in your config.xml file look like?

On the machine that is hosting the \\Bridget\e

Are the permissions set to share the drive and that all users have read access?

I have the same problem as Carlito and cgmt. Both mapped drives and unc paths work locally but neither are accessible from the web app...

I have simple file sharing turned off and identical usernames and passwords on both machines. Files can be accessed no problem from everything except the web app

My guess it is the way sharing is configured....when accessing via the network you are getting on the drives with user id's that you have defined....when accessing via the EWA you are accesing via a system id.

I think you have two choices to test this theory.

1. Chage the gbpvr recording service to use a local user account.
2. Change the share on the drive to allow the usergroup Everyone to have read access to the drive or drive\folder you have mapped.

The share on the remote PC already had Full Access ganted to everyone at the share level and the Drive level and it did not work. When I changed the GBPVRService to run as a local account(administrator) it works fine. Thanks!!! Any ideas on not having to change the service account?

How do you change the service to run as a different user?

I went into control panel/admin tools/services Then double clickedon GBPVR Recording service, then went to the logon tab. Then enter the username/password and restart the service
