Hi,

I've installed Zprocces and I believe I've configured it correctly although I'm having problems. Wink

When I select a video on gbpvr three processes are started on my computer. These are Zprocess, fmpeg and hunter. fmpeg appears to be processing the video file, but Hunter just sits there with the message 'Ready to Pounce'. Whilst this is happening I get nothing on my TV screen.

Any ideas?

That is correct. GB-PVR asks what it thinks is ffmpeg to transcode a video. ffmpeg is really ZProcess. It calls two processes, fmpeg.exe, which does the actual transcoding, and hunter, which sits and waits for either ZProcess to close, or fmpeg to close, and then kills whichever is left open...

The three processes are working correctly, MVP not getting the video is probably something else...

Are you able to play other standard MPGs? Are you able to transcode manullly, and then play with the MVP?

What revision is the Media MVP? What version is GB-PVR...

I'm using the H3 revision of MediaMvp and the latest version of gbpvr. Mpegs and DIVX files all play ok. Do I need VLC installed?

I installed using the following method. Unziped files to thirdparty directory. Ran the batch file. Downloaded the latest version of ffmpeg. Downloaded fmpeg and the merged the zproccess registry file.

If I transcode the file manually then it still won't play even on my PC!

First, No you don't don't need VLC installed. Zprocess just let's you preview files.

I suspect you have a codec problem if your resulting MPG file, transcoded either automatically or manually will not display on your computer (presumably in Windows Media Player). If you did install VLC you'd be able to check the videos, because it is condec independent...

Are you able to recored off the tuners and view content OK from GBPVR?

Thank you

First off, I should say thank you to all those helping me make ZProcess better, and more and more bug free...

Better Transcoding

And with the new release of GB-PVR 98.8, ZProcess now works better with the built in Transcode feature in the Video plugin. GB-PVR will correctly show the progress of a transcode. And when cancelled, it actually stops the transcode, and gives you the chance to start another transcode...

A cheap hardware upgrade goes a long way...

Recently, I upgraded one of my PVRs to a 3.2 ghz Celeron, 1 GB RAM, and a ATA 100 300GB drive.

I was very happy to see ZProcess/ffmpeg perform so well, I was able to crank up some settings..

Before, with my 1.8 Ghz system, I was limited in the dimensions of the transcoded output file to 352/240. I also needed to have the PrePlay delay in GB-PVR set to about 10 seconds (9500)

With my 3.2Ghz system, I was able to set the rez to 640/480, use the default PrePlay delay at 5500, and still have power to boot. GB-PVR was able to record two TV shows flawlessly, including the PostProcessing (using separate instances of ZProcess) and surf some internet...

I particularily liked the rez at 640/480, as my AVIs were much sharper and clearer...

Upgrading may not be an easy thing to get past the wife OR the banker, but it has become cheaper these days. I heartily recommend it. It really ended up increasing the WAF

Cheers

I have just discovered that when I transcode manually I can view them in WMP. All that doesn't happen now is the output to the TV. I only use gbpvr to play files from my PC so I never record.

A couple of clarifications...

When you transcode, are you using the Trans2MVP profile, on the transcode tab?

So that's playing a video file through GB-PVR, through a MediaMVP to the TV?

If you're not using a Media MVP, then ZProcess would not be involved in your video playing in GB-PVR...

I've tried trancoding manually to check the process, and I'm sure I had Trans2MVP selected when I originally set it up. when I get home I'll double check that the settings have been saved.

When I load ZProccess it loads the default settings. I'm assuming that if the output is to be sent to the MVP when I play a file in gbpver then I need the trans2mvp profile and the after transcoding setting set properly?

Nope. If you open ZProcess manually, it defaults to the 2avi profile. An avi to an avi equals am avi...

Make sure that you open ZProcess, select a file, switch to the Transcode tab, select Trans2MVP. You can also select 'Only one minute' It's there exactly for this testing, so you down't have to wait for a whole transcode.

Once you have the MPG, find it, and try playing in WMP, If it doesn't work, You've got a codec problem.

Next play that one minute clip through GBPVR on your computer. Then try it with the MVP

Right. I tried that and when I load it into Media Player it tries to download a codec with error.
