This is amazing - yesterday 4 new channels appeared in the TV guide all by themselves. Topup Anytime 1 to 3 and TOPUPTV PROMO.
My machine is left running 24/7 but is fairly stable, so I haven't even opened the config program let alone changes any settings. I thought this had happened once of twice before, but figured there was no way channels could add themselves, and it must have been something I did. But this time there is no way I had any interaction with the machine to cause these channels to appear - what's going on????

If your xmltv file that you download contains new channels, then I think gbpvr will add them. Does your xmltv grabber grab new channels automatically?

i use the DVB-T channel guide to poulate the EPG - so unless I'm mistaken xmltv shouldn't be involved here. I'm a bit worried that an 'external' source can write to my GBPVR set up - it should be left to me and me alone!!!

I wouldn't say it's writing to your system but that you are reading from theirs.Smile

hmm, it seems odd that I have to go through a manual process to set up the channels I do want, but channels I don't want mysteriaously appear with no help at all. Something fishy is definately afoot...

so my take on how gbpvr does capture sources (I am going to intelligently make this up)

it asks the epg source what channels it has. then adds those by default, usually this is done when you are at the add/edit capture source in config.

then you disable the channels you dont want, those get added to some list.

when it loads the epg you see in the UI it loads everything but what is on the list. and does just that, it gets the list of channels, removes the ones from the exclude list, the end.
so when there are new channels added by the epg source, they get added to the guide.

if you wanted to test to confirm this, set up something with zap2it, disable some channels from zap2it's website, load the epg, enter gbpvr look at the guide, on a different machine (or whatever) enable some channels in the zap2it config, update the epg through the gbpvr gui, look at the guide again.

I am now done making stuff up, I might be right about some of it

yes, but as Sub told you before, they are disabled. Which means they don't work. Just go into config to your capture source(s) and uncheck the rows there to remove them from the TV guide.

Sorry, as AlanC said, you'll have to go in an mark them as disabled to get rid of them.
