Hey, i was wondering what the best format to record in would be, i ask this because i keep getting the message "Error: failure playing back file" when i try to play my recorded shows.

What do you mean? Which formats kan you choose between?

I have also been getting this error lately with the new 98 build.
I have to restart gbpvr.exe before it will play files again..

You're best to post the logs when the error occurs, so that we can try to resolve it.

i tried restarting, it didn't help. I have it set to record in WMV right now. How do i post my logs?????

What are you talking about? You cant set GB-PVR to record WMV files.

yes, you can, i config. you can set it to convert files once recorded. so what format should they be!!

It'll always record .MPG or .DVR-MS format. What you're talking about is automatic conversion to other file types, which takes place after recording.
Before you bother look into automatic conversion, you should check that the original .MPG or .DVR-MS recordings can playback fine.

Like I said before I have gotten this error as well although the files are fine. I have not had it happen again so I don't have any logs to post at the moment. If/when it happens again I will post them. The files can be played back fine if I exit gbpvr and re-enter them. I also get this problem when viewing recordings through a client fairly often as well. I will post logs from the client as well when it happens again. Thanks for all the support.
