nitrogen_widget Wrote:Hey Ted, I've got a g-foce fx5200 & never had a problem with it untill I re-installed XP so I could use the latest version of GBPVR.
Then I was getting almost 100% cpu usage with a 2.7ghz celeron D socket 775.
Something was definetly wrong.
Overlay was about 12% with mpeg playback.
Could not figure it out.
Then I realised I had the resolution at 800x600.
When I put it too 720x480 I was looking at about 15% cpu usage on VMR with purevideo decoder.
I guess the hardware scaling makes more of a difference than I thought.
I honestly forget if it is actually a 5200, but I know its old. and I have an HDTV so my resolution is 1360x768, using vmr results in tearing of the video, last time I checked. I would love to use VMR9 and pass the colorspace properly so I can calibrate my display better.
when I start up gbpvr my cpu usage goes to 100% for the first minute or so, then drops to something reasonable like 10-20. dont have purevideo because it is useless on that card, no hardware acceleration is supported (right?).
Anyways I am building a core 2 duo machine soon so this will inherit a radeon 9600, 1GB ram, 3GHz P4 and I will upgrade the HDD before too long
