I always use http://movies.yahoo.com/ to look up what is on at the theaters in town. Not sure if a parser could be written for it or not. Yahoo does have a lot of information on movies. I like the ratings that are given by the Critics and Yahoo Users.

Here is a link to a recent movie so you can see what I mean.

I know your probably busy with other things but I thought I would pass on the information in case it is useful to you.

Yeah, adding new parsers is on my list of todo. Unfortunately I have been very busy with work and family things lately, so I haven't had time to sit down and look into it.

I plan to use multiple listing sites and allow the user to choose which one they want. Fandango and Yahoo are on my list for America/Canada listings.

I can't verify this right now, but I think the button spacing is controlled by the Y-value of the size attibute in <ButtonLocationElement loc="35,58" size="130,20"/>.

Edit later: Yep, that does it.

The dimensions of that does not control the button spacing in the popup dialog box. The buttons in his example were sized at 43px high, changing the value to "45" there did not get rid of image overlap that occured. It does effect the plugin button spacing, just not the popup.

Just another one to add to the list.
zap2it, the same people that provide the tv listings for GBPVR.

Yeah I saw recently that they offer those listings. I will have to check it out, and hopefully they will offer it in a web service instead of web scraping. Thanks.

Brian_W Wrote:Unfortunately I can't give any kind of timeframes other than "as my time allows". I noticed you are from Canada, one thing that will really help is if people could get me links to websites they use from other countries where they can get current local movie listings. Then I can check out the website and write a parser for it. My next project on the plugin is to modularize it a bit more so that it will be extremely easy to add new websites for listings.

If you have a website you use for Canada, please let me know and I can hopefully add support for it soon. Thanks.

Brian

I would suggest http://www.zap2it.com as GBpvr is already using it for TV listings and it would also solve the problem for the individual with too many listings since you can restrict the results to XXX miles from the location indicated by your postal code or zip code. I have entered by Canadian postal code on their website (without the space) and it works well.

So far, I haven't been able to get theatre plug in to work using the current plug in (although I can get the info from the fandango site itself). I don't have the "1getlistings.bat" listing in my root gbpvr directory but I can enter my postal code in the config settings. Anyone with an idea of what I am doing wrong?

With regards to using Zap2It for the listings, I have looked at it a bit. I will keep it in mind. It unfortunately still going to be a web scrape as they don't offer a soap based web service like they do for the tv listings Sad

With the new version, you don't need the 1getlistings.bat file anymore. I moved the listing retrieval into the main plugin code. If you have your zipcode setup in the config program, go into the plugin, click the refresh button. If that doesn't work, come back and post your logs. Also before running the plugin, go ahead and delete the Theater folder under GBPVR, in case there are any old remnants left over. They have on occasion caused problems.
