HI, First off I am a new convert to gbpvr and it is awesome. Great job and thanks for taking on this huge task.

Ok, I mapped my backed-up dvd location on my hard drive within the config for gbpvr but am not able to play the dvds on the mvp/television. I can however, play a backed-up dvd when I launch gbpvr on my pc. Strange.

Has anyone had luck with this? On my mvp I do not see the DVD button (but I do on my pc gbpvr) and when I access the video library i see the audio_ts and video_ts directories and not the .dv file (playable) that I see on the pc gbpvr.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Sorry, but you cant play DVDs on the MVP.

The DVD would first need to be converted to a normal MPEG2 video file (with MPEG1 Layer 2 stereo audio track).

Can someone please point me in the correct direction for info on converting DVD-ripped VOB's to a single MPEG-2 file that the MediaMVP can play? I've looked around http://www.vcdhelp.com and http://www.doom9.org a bit but I think I'm missing something. TIA!

This is from another post. It was originally about the PVR350, but equally applies to the MVP.
[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]Step 1: I rip the DVD's with SmartRipper to my hard drive. I set SmartRipper to rip the movie to one big file.

Step 2: I then import that file into Womble MPEG Video Wizard and select Export. I only change the AC-3 audio to MPEG Layer II and hit Start. Only the audio is re-encoded.

The entire process is very fast and the resulting file is of excellent quality and plays just fine through the hardware decoder of the PVR-350

If a DVD has no copy protection I wont even use SmartRipper. I import into Womble direct from the DVD and proceed with Step 2.

Thanks. I'd seen this post earlier. Any alternatives to Womble MPEG Video Wizard (which I don't have)? Womble MPEG VCR? DVD2VCD? TMPGEncPlus? Etc?

There probably are alternatives, but I'm not sure what they are. Sorry.

Hi ronkmd

You can use DVDx to convert a DVD to an Mpeg. It’s free and you can get it from: http://www.labdv.com/dvdx/

By default will create standard SVCD files, but the settings can be changed for other sizes and bitrates.

Best regards,

Fernando

You can also change the extension on the ripped .vob files to .mpg

.vob files are just mpeg2 files with a different extension to make them compliant with the DVD file system.

Media Player and most others will play them this way.
