I know you put in something to use alternate tuners but for people with 2 cards it causes conflicts - is there any way you would be able to fix that up some more to work properly without conflicts - the wife is moaning about loosing the end of some of the programs she records cause something else is being taped straight after and it doesnt use the second card.

thanks

A few releases back, there was a line in the config.xml about alternating source with 2 tuners. Apparently it is set one way because it could generate conflicts, but on a recommendation, I set it the other way and had much better success.

Now here is the weird bit. I have searched the forum and the config.xml for a reference to this and I can't find anything.... at all.

DTB Digital SD + HD content (PAL-MPEG2-AC3).
Custom case made very quiet. Zalman CPU cooler.
Sits in rack with other HiFi.

ParaLED to show tuner activity.

would this be similar to my problem? That for some reason if there are back to back shows recording, the middle recordings don't do pre or post padding.
If you want to know why nPVR is the bomb, ask my wife!

yeah i know about the prefer alternate recording sources option in the config.xml but was just wondering if anything was going to be changed to make that setting work better - cause at the mo if you have 3 or 4 recordings and one of them is a movie it causes the conflicts....cause it cant alternate the source card while its recording something else.

cheers

if you turn on the alternate recording sources option you shouldnt have the problem, but if you have 2 tuners and try to record to many programs too close together on 2 different channels you start getting conflicts with this option turned on. especially when the shows overlap with different start and finish times.

I found that the default setting caused the end of programs to be cut off.

I certainly saw an improvement with the alternating tuners. So I suggest you give it a try if you haven't already.

Although you could always get ANOTHER tuner...

make the setting TRUE and see how it goes - the reason for the thread was really to see if this setting can be made better - cause i think it forces alternate and thus causes the conflicts ?

i found that to be true aswell but when you want to record 3 or 4 shows with only 2 tuners and you get conflicts its a bit of a pain - oh and getting another tuner is out of the question - my SFF case only has 2 pci slots and the wife wont let me spend more money on PVR 500's
