Unable to get Quiet n Cool to work

Since speedfan sounds like a unanimous choice, I will try it tonight and report findings.

I also use speedfan, but it doesn't control my fans. My 3 systems all run at 50 centigrade. I use Zalman flowers, quiet fluid bearing HDDs, no case fans, and quiet PSUs. One PSU is from http://www.pcalchemy.com I never have heat issues and even with CPUburn running for 30 minutes.

why not a case fan in the back a 120mm fans are really quite, might bring your temps down some

I have seen poorly cooled Athlon XP's run in the low 60*C's and get hot enough to hit 70*C. Thankfully never mine.

The K8NGM2-FID does have the option in the BIOS (PC health section) to enable the smart fan on two of the fan headers based on temp and a differential. Currently I have mine set to speed up at +/-3C @ 42C. It works great, but then again, I have sufficient area around my computer so that the fans don't have to work hard to keep the system cool (usually idles at about 32C). I also recommend the Arctic Cooling Freezer64, but from the looks of your case, you won't have room for it. Zalman is well respected and quiet, PC Alchemy is carrying a number of different coolers you could try.

One way you can possibly boost airflow with the case you have is to get an 80mm to 120mm "funnel" from PC Alchemy (http://www.pcalchemy.com/product_info.ph...cessories). I put this on the back of my wife's PC (only had one 80mm exhaust fan spot) and coupled that with a Thermaltake 120mm Smart Fan (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...811999145). I taped the thermal sensor it comes with behind the fan so the air it is exhausting is what determines the fan speed. I used the 60mm to 80mm funnel on my PVR case to get rid of the noisy 60mm fan, but was able to fit it and the 80mm fan inside (pic). These little funnels work great.
