UncleJohnsBand Wrote:You need to change the drive letter of the old drive....since there are 2 E: drives it is picking the first one it finds.....

Right click on my computer
Select Mangae
Expand out the Storage folder if it is not already
Select Disk Management
Right click on your old E: drive
Select Change Drive Letter and Paths
Click on the Change button
Change it to a different drive lettter such as M: or F: or O:...anything but E:

You should now only have one E: drive...that being the new drive.....your stats should now work.

I am actually working as a SAN (Storage Area Networks) & storage admin so I know very well how windows (and Netware and Unix) diskmanagement and filesystems work in general.
A slight problem is that I have an Exchange server installed on the E: and I do not want to touch that installation. Therefor having only one E: is NOT what I want and not what I will do. I will keep my setup as it is and live with EWA showing me wrong numbers. It is only cosmetic, everything works as it should.

What I do not understand is why it picks the root filesystem of the drive and not the one mounted at the mountpount I selected?

When I attempt to record something via the web interface, I receive the red box with the "Recording Failed!" text in it. I'm beginning to think it is doing it purposely to antagonize me.

Anyway, are there common things that I should be looking at to attempt to fix this?
Don't try to set a season recoding for on a show that is already started or in the past.....the one you selected wil show failed but future ones will schedule.

Are you using the MS Access database or the SQLite database? This occurs most often when using the Access DB.

LostDog Wrote:I can see the guide fine and all the other pages seem to come up for me, except the Admin.aspx page. Still trying to figure out why that one won't show.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Does the Admin page not come up at all or are you just getting the login page and don't know what to do.

I've tried all the options for recording past/present/future and all with the same results. I had at times gone into the .mdb file through access and it would force me into a read-only state. The Read-only state is what I assumed was the issue when I tried to schedule via Web. So I upgraded to the latest version of GBPVR, as I believed the new version defaulted to SQLite, and that SQLite would have better permission handling.

I don't know at this point. I know I was using the .mdb file, but then I upgraded to the latest version (version 98 I believe) and now the information about my previous recordings in the mdb aren't being displayed and I don't know enough about SQLite to go and find that database and check it out.

I was getting the page not found error page. Not even a server error page. I'm sure that's on my end though as it's an intermitent problem.

Hi

I'm having trouble getting streaming to work. When I request a stream, I get asked whether I want to open or save a file (stream.vlc). When I open, vlc media player starts, but nothing happens.

VLC messages has the following error - main error: cannot pre fill buffer.

If I hit play on the player, the VLC messages says:

I'd be grateful for any advice

This sounds like an overall bad install of GBPVR.....I would uninstall GBPVR....then delete the install folder so there is nothing there.

Reinstall GBPVR.
Run the changedatabase.exe program in the gbpvr folder...this will set you up to use SQLite.
Go into the config app and point all your directories to where you store your videos and recordings and music.
Set the user id and password for the web admin and check the enable box.

Then use this tool to create an import list of recordings.....this should read all your recordings and create a file. This file can then be imported into GBPVR by going into the config app and selecting the plugins tab and selecting import recrodings.....select the file that was create from this tool and then you should have all your recordings back.

Are you using VLC version 8.5?
What command line is generated when you start your stream? Go to:
Code:
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\gbpvr\4d107d39\801bf7b5\assembly\dl3

Look in the subdirectories under the above until you find one that contains the gbpvrpublic.dll file.....you should see a log file there.....open it up....this is where the web logs dump.....you should see a message that looks like below....post what yours looks like.

Code:

Then you know Windows....by nature...does not like duplicate volumes....thus the confusion that the windows API is having. Smile

Try chaninging your recordings setting in the config.xml file in the GBPVR directory to use a unc encoding rather than the mapped drive.....i.e. instead of using e:\dir\dir......use \\pcname\sharename.....

This may work.....let me know.

OK, I've read as much of the thread as I could find that was relative to the port 7647 issue and here's a recap of my situation:

A dynamic dns setup from my home gbpvr to static "mynewname.no-ip.org" and pinging mynewname.no-ip.org works.

Windows XP
  • firewall temporarilly disabled
    OR I TRIED
  • added program gbpvr and TCP port 7647 to the Windows Firewall exception list

Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless B Router
  • Port Range Fwd: "gbpvr1" from 7647 to 7647, both TCP & UDM, fwd to my gbpvr system
  • UPnP DFwd: "gbpvr" external port 7647 TCP to internal 7647 on gbpvr system

Now, I can get to the guide by localhost:7647, but not even while on my gbpvr machine can I use either the mynewname.no-ip.org:7647 or what my dynamic-address:7647 really is.

Any ideas what to try next? Again, I can ping mynewname and get a response. I don't think it's gbpvr, 'cause I just tried ultraVnc and couldn't connect from my laptop, though I could force a connection starting on my desktop. Ugh!

By the way, I just tried using http://www.whatsmyip.org/ports/custom/ and putting in 7647 as the port scanned and the status is Timeout.
