Hello,

I am absolutely happy with GBPVR but I often get a file sized 0 KB on a scheduled recording.

The folder and the recording file are both created, but the file is just 0 KB. If I restart the Recording Service the next recording will be fine. This happens sometimes after each recording or after watching live TV. I find something in the logs of the recording service but nothing in the log of the frontend application, what I think is normal. The log is attached. I appreciate any help as I enjoy using GBPVR a lot.

I use GBPVR 98.08b and a Hauppauge T 90002 which works fine with the original application.

Greetings

jui - Have you tried a different BDA multiplexer or a different version of the Cyberlink one? You could also try the dvr-ms option.

I used to get truncated recordings (0KB or 6KB) with one of the Cyberlink muxers - I also had frequent recording service crashes when recording with 2 or more Nova-T cards at the same time.

I use dvr-ms most of the time but have to transcode to mpg for best results on my MVP. The strange thing is the Cyberlink muxer seems to work pretty smoothly for transcoding - it's just when I use it for recordings it gives me problems.

Cheers,
Brian

Hi,

thank you bgowland. I changed to DVR-MS and that solved the problem. Unfortunately this is one step more in conversion but it works fine.

Hm... a bit off topic here, but... except from being able to view the files directly on the MVP, what are the drawbacks of using dvr-ms? Any?

Hi Stefan,

I need to convert from DVR-MS to mpg to be able to demux, cut and then burn it. So that is one step more. Or do you know a way to cut dvr-ms directly and then convert it in DVD format?

ShowAnalyser and VideoRedo both cope admirably with dvr-ms files. Neither are free but nor are they fiendishly expensive either.

Showanalyzer can produce both a cut file for gbpvr and also for videoredo so there's no need for two scans - and it's extremely fast.

Videoredo allows you to cut and convert your file. I usually use Nero Showtime to actually burn the resultant file to dvd for programmes I want to keep more than a few days.

Regards
