Actually, I don't see that listed at all!

Bring up the EWA on the machine and then do the netstat.....I belive that gbpvr shuts down the listening port after a certain amount of inactivity....

Ok....first we need to make sure VLC can actually process the file.....on the gbpvr machine open up VLC and open up the file: D:\TV\Teletubbies\Teletubbies_20061003_06300700.d vr-ms

Does it play ok?

If so, in VLC selectg view from the menu and then select stream and media info. What information is listed in the Advanced information tab?

VLC says its playing, but doesn't produce a window with the actual video. The info requested is:

Stream 0
Codec DVR
Language
Type Video

Duration 0:39:52

it's GBPVRRecordingService.exe that needs to accept connections on 7647 - unless I have missed something as I was skim reading.

I can successfully schedule a manual recording from gbpvr itself but when I try to do the same thing from the enhanced web admin it looks like it has worked but no manual recording appears in the manage recordings page.

In the log file from the statistics page of the web site I get the following:

Are you using the Access database or SQLite.....this is a fairly common occurance when using Access as the database.

Let me know.

Don't think that is it.......

I only have gbpvr.exe and port 7647 open on the windows firewall. I have nothing for gbpvrrecordingservice.exe.

And I have no issues accessing the EWA.

This shows that VLC is incapable, with the codecs that are currently installed on your machine, of playing the video.

From about 15 minutes of research on the net it appears that the dvr-ms file format is proprietary to windows media player and the Media Center.....apparently VLC can convert it to another format but can not play it nativley.

You should record in a different format...i.e .mpg.

I'm using Access still. Thanks alot for the pointer, I'll look into switching to SQLite.
