Intersting, I did try the new dongle from hauppage (the one with all of the OSD stuff that was kind of annoying) but reverted back to the old dongle shortly after discovering the OSD. Things still worked at that point. I'm trying to recall any other changes that I might have made that would have caused this, and the only other thing I could think of was the network tweak to make it perform better for the MVP. I've since removed that tweak and rebooted, however, it still isn't working. I'm tempted to uninstall and reinstall GBPVR just to give it a shot.

Is it working with the hauppauge software? - I know it's not ideal to install it (keeping the system clean), but at least it would rule out network issues...

Good question. I'll try that when I get home tonight.
One thing that I did (previous post) was install a network sniffer to verify that the traffic from the MVP was getting to the GBPVR box. My network is setup like this: mvp | router - Linux box (DHCP & name server) | GBPVR The sniffer (running on GBPVR) showed the initial multicast broadcast on port 16881 (I think that was the port). I can also ping the MVP from GBPVR. The IP address of the MVP is assigned by DHCP to a static address 192.168.2.5, and the GBPVR box is assigned 192.168.2.4, which is also static.

Problem solved. It was a stupid network (user) problem. I *thought* I had turned off the windows firewall. Well... if I did, I forgot to save the settings.
