Hi,

I just bought a MVP lately and the info is 86001 D3a

After software installation, I can't seem to have MediaMVP to work and it kept telling me;
"contacting DHCP Server" &
"Contacting MediaMVP Bootserver"

I then setup GBPVR (newest version) and disabled and set manual both MediaMVP & MediaMVPSVC thru (services.msc)

I then started up GBPVRMediaMVP server.....
still it's looking for the above contacting thing.....

I thought it was just plug & play thing....how come it's not for me???

I've also disabled firewall....

Pls help me....

Info:
XP professional
MediaMVP Model 86001 D3a

ps, my pvr150 is setup in another room.....

GB-PVR can only boot your MVP by itself if a DHCP server is somewhere on your network. You probably dont have one. The original Hauppauge software has one built in, GB-PVR doesnt not.

Will it work with the Hauppauge server?

Do you have any software firewalls on your computer with the pvr150?
I am using xp with the windows firewall and have exceptions set up for gbpvr and hcwsms. I can't remember how I got the setup, I belive i had to manually start each service and then allow access in the pop-up box.

I have installed most of tipsters network speedup tips and now the mvp connects much faster. Mine used to spend a long time searching.

It also seems to confuse the mvp if you switch servers. Did you unplug the mvp,to let it reset, after changing from Haupauge to gbpvr server?

Good luck, I'm sure you will get it working.

I get my MVP working, but I'm not always sure why..Smile

Use Hauppauge software, works everytime.

GBPVR 9310
set to autostart 1 server
disable both Hauppauge services
MVP sits at loading application, waited over an hour, nothing.
start the MVPmediasvc
unplug MVP, plut it back in, loads GBPVR, works GREAT!!

Firewall is off.
DHCP provided by D-Link wireless router.

From what the docs say, GBPVR should communicate with the MVP and go.

Did I miss something in the docs?? Docs say disable both services.

BTW, I do have it wireless on a WAP54G set in AP client mode. It plays live TV, video files, recorded TV great from a 1GHZ PIII, 1 GB RAM, G Wireless.

Like I said, I can get it working, but it doesn't seem to be working the way it should.

Apart from Disabling both MVP Services in Admin, some other solutions I have found to help are:

0. VERY COMMON error ... PERMIT GBPVR.EXE and GBPVRRECORDINGSERVICE.EXE in Norton Antivirus Worm Script Blocking (or any OTHER AV or Firewall Software).

1. Try the http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/s...iamvp.html
Hauppage Stable Beta http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/software/...09_web.exe

2. Try Tipstirs Port Forwarding Tricks here:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...#post55330

3. http://www.shspvr.com/smf/index.php?topic=8721.0 ALPHA-BETA! but one fellow noticed it load faster.

4. I set up my PC with a Static IP address, and in my Linkysys WRT54GS, forwarded the ports (in Tipstirs Post) to that IP. This also helps with external webadmin.

I had exactly the same problem and infact still do. The only way I can get the MVP to boot into GBPVR is by having the MVPmediasvc service running. Once booted I shut the MVPmediasvc service down and I have full GBPVR functionality.

I too have no firewall / AV to cause a problem on the server and DHCP is handled by my Novell Server which has no problem in providing the MVP an address. Infact I have used alternative DHCP servers with the same issue of not booting without MVPmediasvc running.

It's a niggle having to stop/start services but worth the pain for the result.

I finally had the MVP setup ok.... but, only thru Hauppauge software

Well, I really don't know what I did.....or I did too many possible tips... so I really don't know which one helped me (oops)

I want to wait for the current status to be stable before I move on to GBPVR's mediamvp.... I am sure this is going to be way better than Hauppauge one

Thanks a lot for all the help ^_^
